CLOSING DATE: 10 SEPTEMBER 2026 POSITION: INTERNSHIP: PROGRAMMING ASSISTANCE DIVISION: VIDEO ENTERTAINMENT REPORT LINE: PROGRAMMING MANAGER POSITION ID: 60022327 SCALE CODE: 900 MAIN PURPOSE OF POSITION To assist the programme manager with the development, implementation, monitoring and review of the programming strategy that is aligned to the overall Channel strategy. A specific focus area of the Programming Unit in the Channel includes the acquisition of high quality, international and local content, against available budget delivery on the public mandate; content that appeals to audience and generates healthy revenues. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Assist in developing, managing and implementing a strategic plan for the acquisition of local and international programmes Assist in implementing Programming strategy in line with Television channel strategy and goals Assist the Programme Manager in conducting continuous reviews of products, markets and revenue in order to meet strategic objectives and ensure a competitive edge • Oversee administration of the Programming unit to ensure smooth running of the unit • Assist the programme manager with the editorial management of content for channel through conducting periodical editorial sessions with content providers ensuring timeous and appropriate documentation of all agreements, instructions, specifications and recommendations to ensure optimal alignment with channel programme strategy • Track and manage the progress and status of properties on a weekly basis to ensure timeous delivery of content as dictated by the schedule • Prepare monthly reports consisting of programme performance reports detailing, progress reports on operational matters, progress of programme development, innovation and new developments • Attend pitching, review sessions and content workshops with service providers when the Programme Manager is not available • Assist with development of programme specifications and concepts detailing editorial quality and innovation guidelines • Assist with the development and writing of briefs for commissioned content • Assist the Programme Manager with ad hoc initiatives and other requirements • Monitor and report on the operational risk and compliance matters • Implement internal control measures to ensure good governance • Manage risks to protect organisational integrity, create value, prevent financial loss and ensure compliance with applicable policies and legislations • Implement Risk Management Plan in line with Organizational risk Framework. • Implement internal risk audits identified • Assist in compiling a content needs analysis document for both local and international content • Monitor day-to day operational matters and workflows of projects • In collaboration with Scheduling, ensure schedules are ready for rate card on time. • Generate mandates for content being required by the channels • Coordinate and monitor the stages of the Business Plan value chain from review/pitch through to contracting stage • Quality control of all documentation from review/pitch through to contracting in the value chain to eliminate mistakes and identify inefficiencies • Request information acquired for the approved business plans templates from various stakeholders • Co-ordinate and ensure timeous distribution and collection of the information pertaining to marketing and scheduling information, financial information, budgets and evaluation reports, sales projections, third party contact and registration details, company industry development strategy, resolutions, deliverables check list, legal and contract requests to and from the appropriate departments. • Co-ordinate and ensure data integrity of all physical and electronic documentation related to the business plan and contracts for all projects. • Request, coordinate and follow-up on budget evaluation requests from Production Management • Obtain deliverables checklist, ensure that they are aligned to the cash flow and insert them in the physical file to ensure timeous delivery of content • Request and complete the Contract Request/legal instruction and submit file to Business Acquisitions • Engage constantly with Internal and External business partners to achieve business objectives • Respond timeously to complaints. • Liaise with scheduling, finance, marketing, on-air, sales and marketing and legal departments to communicate information on new properties • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure programming strategic objectives are met or any other reasonable instruction given by the SABC Representative Requirements: National Diploma or Degree in Media related qualification Computer literacy Ability to manage time and meet deadlines Meticulous Attention to detail Good interpersonal- and Communication skills Must be able to prioritize
