END DATE: 16 SEPTEMBER 2026 POSITION TITLE: VIDEO EDITOR Report Line : Manager Video Editing Division : Technology – TV Media – Video Editing Scale Code : 404 ( Peromnes 11, Paterson C1) Position id : 60018444 PURPOSE : The position requires effective and efficient Non Linear editing, sequencing of raw visual and audio footage into a comprehensive final television end product for broadcast and meet customer requirements in support of Video Editing business objectives BUSINESS OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCY Assets management tracking Maintain above average rating on Service Level Agreement with internal stakeholders Provide effective operational support to stakeholders in order to reduce downtime Comply with Video Editing stakeholders service standards Test Video Editing equipment and ensure that it functions optimally prior to production Adhere to SOP when Importing media and checking in projects Edit Television Genres (Sports, News Documentaries, Promos, line ups, Talk shows, etc) and ensure no comebacks regarding the video and audio quality of the program Provide appropriate video effects to match and enhance the mood of visual material supplied Creative input/advice to customer to enhance the nature and the story of the program Utilize relevant measuring instruments to check both video and audio levels according to required broadcast specifications Complete project in allocated time given constraints Serve customers served in technically proficient, empathic, friendly and helpful manner Achieve above average rating on Client Survey Complete booking forms report properly and signed off to portray true reflection of developments during edit session Report technical faults to the relevant department & follow up to ensure the fault is resolved timeously Conduct testing of Video Editing equipment during studio upgrades to ensure to ensure best equipment and software is purchased and is compatible with other internal facilities Comply with performance management policies and procedures Participate in knowledge base sharing activities on an ongoing basis Knowledge base and understanding of all HR policies & procedures GOVERNANCE RISK AND COMPLIANCE Report and escalate all faulty equipment immediately to technical support Compliance to OHS safety requirements and SABC Company Policies and Procedures Adhere to SOP – follow the procedures at all times. Participate in mitigation of departmental risk Participate in verification of Assets STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT Provide service delivery on stakeholders needs in accordance to Service Level Agreement. Participate in regular stakeholder engagements to understand current and future based needs QUALIFICATIONS : Diploma/Degree in Film & Television / NQF6/7 ADVANTAGE : MC 101 - Media Composer 101 Editing Essentials Broadcast Operations Internship Certificate Good Computer Literacy Exposure to TV Video Editing Environment EXPERIENCE : 1 Year Video Editing Experience KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge, understanding of Avid Media Composer Knowledge, understanding of graphic elements and how to import them Knowledge, understanding and application of video editing software & equipment Knowledge, understanding and application of audio tools for audio-mixing Quality control against EBU standards & specifications and relevant measuring instruments Knowledge, understanding and application of video editing principles and video effects Good understanding of equipment & facilities within broadcasting environment Knowledge & understanding of TV technical & operational standards e.g. PAL vs NTSC Knowledge, understanding and application of digital workflows. Mentoring & coaching of Junior Staff and Interns Knowledge & understanding of video formats and media file types (DTT) Understanding of R128 Loudness standard Basic technical & operational support & advice Conceptualising ideas into visual elements contained in television programming (Critical & Scarce) Knowledge, understanding and application of SAP Knowledge & understanding of OHS Act
