Data Analyst — Discovery Intelligence
traveloka · Shenzhen, Guangdong, China
About The Role
About the team You will join the Discovery Intelligence team at Traveloka as the dedicated data analyst for search and recommendation. You sit between product, algorithm and engineering as the team's data hub. Your core value is to make the state of each system clear with data: help PMs and engineers see how each scenario is really performing and where the problems are, and help team leaders see the system bottlenecks and where to invest next. Responsibilities • Build and maintain the core metric system and daily monitoring for search and recommendation, covering query success rate, zero-result rate, impressions, clicks, conversion, GBV and revenue, so the team always knows the real state of each system. • Run system diagnostics: break funnels down by country, platform, traffic source and query type to locate bottlenecks such as coverage gaps, recall failures, ranking bias, latency and cache-hit issues, and answer with data how well a system is actually doing and where it falls short. • Analyze user search and recommendation behavior, such as query distribution and concentration, search result quality and intent-recognition accuracy, traffic sources, bot and abnormal traffic, and attribution logic, to give PMs and engineers optimization opportunities and a basis for prioritization. • Build and maintain analysis tables and dashboards, unify metric definitions across scenarios, keep data traceable, and work with data engineering to improve the data models. • Deliver analysis reports and periodic reviews to team leaders and management that call out system bottlenecks, the size of each opportunity and the recommended direction, to support prioritization and roadmap decisions. • Analyze A/B experiment and post-launch results: judge whether the result is trustworthy, where the uplift comes from by segment or scenario, and whether there are side effects, and give PMs, engineers and the algorithm team a clear conclusion. Also support the algorithm team with offline evaluation, feature exploration and case analysis. Requirements • Bachelor's degree or above in statistics, mathematics, computer science, economics or a related field, with 3+ years of data analysis experience. • Expert SQL, able to work efficiently on BigQuery or a comparable large-scale data warehouse with hundreds of millions of rows; proficient in Python (pandas, statistics and visualization libraries). • Solid statistical foundation, able to correctly interpret A/B test results and aware of common analysis pitfalls such as inconsistent metric definitions, selection bias and abnormal traffic. • Familiar with funnel analysis, user behavior analysis and metric system design for internet products. • Experience with BI tools such as Tableau, Looker or Metabase, able to build dashboards independently. • Clear thinking and strong communication, able to explain complex analysis to non-technical colleagues. Nice to have • Analytics experience in search, recommendation, ads, or e-commerce/OTA, with an understanding of ranking, recall, intent recognition and attribution. • Familiarity with dbt or similar data modeling tools, and experience in metric governance. • Experience providing system diagnostics, bottleneck analysis or roadmap data support for engineering or product teams.
