About The Role

Federal Ammunition is seeking a Process Design Engineer . The Process Design Engineer supports the design, development, implementation, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes, equipment, and production systems. This entry-level position is ideal for recent graduates with a degree in Process Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or Controls Engineering who are interested in optimizing production operations through process design, automation, and data-driven problem solving.

The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams including Product Development, Manufacturing, Quality, Maintenance, and Operations to improve safety, quality, throughput, and cost performance while supporting new product introductions and capital projects.

This position reports to the Director of Product Development (Shotshell and Muzzleloader) and is based out of our Anoka, Minnesota office.

As the Process Design Engineer, you will

  • Initiate process changes and improvements, maintain process records and drawings.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing issues.
  • Identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Analyzes operational data such as production costs, process flow charts and production schedules to determine efficient utilization of employees, tooling, supplies, and equipment.
  • Recommends methods for improving worker efficiency and reducing waste.
  • Work effectively and collaboratively with a cross discipline team.
  • Initiate and lead engineering projects including cost improvements and capital projects.
  • Write technical reports and present them to management and other interested parties.
  • Effectively communicate with manufacturing personnel and management.
  • Regularly interact with and provide technical guidance to manufacturing and shop personnel.
  • Assists in training production personnel in work instruction and procedures.
  • Understand product specifications and interpret test data.
  • Understand how manufacturing processes affect the performance characteristics of the product.

Experience you bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering/Science discipline
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, project management and teamwork skills.
  • Exceptional problem solving ability.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing operations and lean principles.
  • Hands on experience with machining and manufacturing equipment.
  • SolidWorks or CAD.

You might also bring

  • Electrical & Controls Engineering experience - PLC programming and troubleshooting, Human Machine Interface (HMI) development, industrial automation systems, sensors, instrumentation, and data acquisition, and control panel design and documentation

Work Environment

Employee work assignments may include tasks working with and/or exposure to potentially hazardous areas, including flammables and explosives. Safety training is provided to all employees to ensure compliance with company and federal regulations.

Pay Range

$67,100.00 - $93,900.00 The actual annual salary offered to a candidate will be based on variables including experience, geographic location, education, and skills/achievements, and will be mutually agreed upon at the time of offer.
