About The Role

Job Purpose

Handling of maintenance activities for plant, facility management and fire safety equipment and take up new projects for asset management.

Job Context

At present, the maintenance activities at LEI are restricted to Plant maintenance. The maintenance of other aspects like fire and safety equipment, asset management, electrical maintenance, lighting, etc has taken a back seat due to unavailability of a responsible person. This role is identified to take care of the above-mentioned aspects

Job Dimensions

Responsible for maintenance activities of both the plants and offices at LEI, Nashik. This role shall report to the Plant Manager, LEI.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintenance of plant equipment (machines, cranes, welding, pneumatics, etc)
  • Maintenance of facility infrastructure (lighting, plumbing, electrical/mechanical repairs, air conditioning, STP, etc)
  • Installation of new machines
  • Maintenance of fire and safety equipment
  • New projects for improvements in safety, asset management, office maintenance, reducing power consumption and carbon footprint
  • Continuous improvement of machine downtime
  • Establishing preventive maintenance schedules and reducing breakdowns
  • Development of new vendors to efficiently carry out maintenance activities
  • Planning, Budgeting and monitoring maintenance costs and showing continuous improvements in cost reduction

Qualification, Experience & Skills

  • BE/ Diploma in mechanical/Electrical Engineer
  • Experience of at least 8-10 years for BE and 10-12 in handling maintenance, plant safety and asset management in renowned organizations
  • Knowledge of handling maintenance of weld shop
  • Knowledge of TPM preferred
  • Knowledge of handling installation and commissioning of new machines in a working plant
  • Experienced in taking up special projects for improving power efficiency through green/renewable energy
  • Experienced in handling contract/temporary labour

Key Accountabilities

A. Production Planning & Operations Management

  • Develop and execute daily/weekly/monthly RMU production plans in line with customer demand and delivery schedules.
  • Supervise assembly, wiring, tank fabrication, gas filling, mechanical assembly, and final inspection activities.
  • Ensure production processes for RMU manufacturing.
  • Coordinate with design, PPC, purchase, and QA teams to ensure production readiness.

B. Technical Expertise & Quality Control

  • Oversee electrical and mechanical assembly of RMU components
  • Ensure compliance with quality norms, electrical safety guidelines, and type-test requirements.
  • Lead root cause analysis for quality issues.
  • Validate and approve in-process and final inspection checklists.

C. Process Optimization & Continuous Improvement

  • Improve assembly sequences and reduce cycle times for higher output.
  • Monitor and improve OEE for final Assembly lines.
  • Lead Kaizen activities to eliminate losses and improve cycle time and productivity.
  • Monitor machine and manpower utilization; identify and eliminate bottlenecks.
  • Reduce production costs through waste minimization and process standardization.

D. Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead a team of supervisors, contract operators and permanent workers
  • Conduct skill assessments and provide technical training on RMU assembly and safety.
  • Maintain discipline, motivate the team, and ensure adherence to work instructions.

E. Safety, Compliance & Documentation

  • Ensure strict compliance with electrical safety standards, LOTO procedures, and PPE guidelines.
  • Conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and implement corrective actions.

F. Cross-functional Coordination

  • Work closely with engineering for design changes and product improvements.
  • Coordinate with the maintenance team for preventive maintenance and zero downtime.
  • Collaborate with QA for internal and customer inspections.

  • Daily/Monthly production achievement vs. plan.
  • FPY improvements
  • On-time delivery and customer satisfaction.
  • Manufacturing efficiency and cycle time reduction.
  • Safety performance
  • Cost and resource optimization.
  • Support new RMU product development and prototyping.
  • Participate in customer audits and support FAT.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement & standardization initiatives.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills

Education

  • Diploma / BE / B. Tech in Electrical / Mechanical / Electrical & Electronics Engineering (Electrical preferred).

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years in RMU or MV switchgear manufacturing.
  • Strong experience in switchgear industry is preferred
  • Technical Skills
  • Deep knowledge of RMU assembly, testing
  • Understanding of MV standards
  • Hands-on experience with assembly tools, torque requirements, wiring diagrams, and mechanical fittings.
  • Knowledge of TPM methodologies, OEE calculation, 5S, Kaizen,
  • Proficiency in D365 for production transactions.
