About The Role
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Purpose of the Role
The Warehouse Manager is responsible for leading and managing all day‑to‑day warehouse operations to ensure efficient receipt, storage, handling, and dispatch of goods. The role ensures operational excellence, safety, inventory accuracy, resource planning, and compliance with organizational standards and statutory requirements. The position also drives continual improvement to enhance productivity, service levels, and cost efficiency.
Key responsibilities
- A. Warehouse Operations Management
- Oversee inbound, outbound, and inventory management activities.
- Ensure timely unloading, put‑away, picking, packing, and dispatch operations.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for smooth workflows.
- Coordinate closely with transport, procurement, and customer service teams.
- B. Inventory & Space Management
- Monitor inventory accuracy through cycle counts, audits, and reconciliation.
- Ensure optimal space utilization and layout planning within the warehouse.
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies promptly.
- C. People Leadership
- Lead a team of supervisors, executives, and warehouse associates.
- Plan manpower deployment based on workload (shift planning & rostering).
- Conduct training, performance reviews, and skill development programs.
- D. Safety, Quality & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to safety standards, 5S, and housekeeping guidelines.
- Maintain compliance with customs, excise, and statutory requirements (if applicable to SEZ/EZ operations).
- Investigate and record warehouse incidents and drive corrective actions.
- E. Process Improvement & Reporting
- Identify opportunities to reduce cost and improve operational KPIs.
- Generate daily, weekly, and monthly MIS reports.
- Coordinate for internal and external audits.
- Preferred Qualities:
- Ability to work independently and ensure compliance with stringent regulatory guidelines, particularly for cold chain management.
- Proactive and problem-solving mindset with strong communication skills.
- Prior experience in managing cold chain audits and inspections.
- Work Conditions:
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a high level of accuracy.
- Physically capable of handling and moving products, particularly cold chain items that may require special equipment.
- Comfortable working in cold chambers for extended periods, ensuring proper PPE and safety measures are followed.
- QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES
Qualification & Competencies
- Bachelor’s degree or MBA in Supply Chain Management.
- 10-12 years of experience in warehouse management or a related field, with cold chain handling experience.
- Proficiency in Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and MS Office.
- Excellent organizational and documentation skills, particularly for temperature-controlled environments.
- Familiarity with batch tracking, stock rotation methods (FIFO/FEFO), and proper handling of cold chain pharmaceutical products.
