About The Role

We are looking for a Welding Coordinator / Engineer to join the Sumitomo SHI FW Energia Oy Group Quality department

Your main area of responsibility will be

  • Maintaining the ISO 3834-2 certified Welding Quality Management System.
  • Conducting internal audits of the ISO 3834 Welding Quality Management System and the QHSE Management System.
  • Performing supplier workshop and construction audits.
  • Supporting proposal works by reviewing welding-related client requirements.
  • Providing welding-related expertise to projects as needed, including but not limited to reviewing welding and forming procedures, preparing repair procedures, and supporting the resolution of welding-related issues.
  • Maintaining SFW Manufacturing Standards in areas related to Welding Coordinator / Engineer responsibilities.
  • Acting as a substitute for the Welding Coordinator of Service Production in Varkaus, including but not limited to preparing pressure equipment repair plans and applications for repair work assessment to approved inspection bodies.
  • Maintaining Service Production manufacturing instructions in areas related to Welding Coordinator responsibilities.

We expect you to have

  • M.Sc. or B.Sc. degree in a relevant technical field, such as Mechanical Engineering or Material Engineering.
  • International Welding Engineering (IWE) qualification.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Welding Coordinator in a manufacturing environment, certification body, or similar organization.
  • Strong practical knowledge of the ISO 3834 standard and its implementation.
  • Strong communication skills in Finnish and English, both written and spoken.
  • Availability for domestic and international travel.
  • The ability to identify, analyze, and resolve complex problems, as well as strong professional judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Strong collaboration skills across internal and external networks.
  • A proactive mindset with the ability to independently manage priorities and responsibilities.
  • A results-oriented approach with a proven sense of ownership and accountability.

In addition, knowledge and experience in several of the following areas is expected

  • Industrial boilers with auxiliaries
  • EN 12952 (Water Tube Boilers and auxiliary installations)
  • EN 13480 (Metallic Industrial Piping)
  • EN 13445 (Pressure Vessels)
  • EN 1090 (Steel Structures)
  • Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) 2014/68/EU
  • Pressure part welding, materials, and non-destructive examination standards (EN/ISO)
