Head of Adaptation Service

Join Contexte, a leading independent media outlet focused on European news. As the Head of Adaptation Service, you will manage a team of adaptation editors and ensure high editorial standards while adapting content between French and English. This full-time position is based in Brussels and offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of a European newsroom.

• Assurer la qualité et les normes éditoriales, travailler avec l'équipe pour développer et maintenir un guide d'adaptation partagé.
• Organiser les horaires et anticiper la charge de travail, gérer les congés/absences, anticiper les cycles d'actualités.
• Traduire et adapter des articles de votre vertical assigné dans votre langue maternelle, en travaillant de manière autonome et précise.
• **Language:** Native-level speaker of either \*\*\*\*English or French, with near-native proficiency (at least C2) in the other language.
• **Editorial and management:** A background in journalism or related experience is required; you have at least three years’ experience as an editor in a media organisation. You have previously managed a team — however small or for however short a period — and understand what the role entails day-to-day.
• **Active listening, adaptability, and emotional intelligence:** You are attentive to others’ needs and tailor support to individual expectations, constraints, and ambitions. You are skilled at giving and receiving feedback.
• **Diligence:** You are thorough in your work and have an eye for detail.
• **EU:** You have a solid understanding of how EU institutions operate, or are keen to deepen it.
• **Appreciation for cross-functional work and change:** You enjoy working with a wide range of people, in a dynamic environment, while building and energising a new team.
