Forward Deployed Engineer

Join Clariti, a company dedicated to modernizing permitting and community development for local governments. As the first Forward Deployed Engineer, you will define the role, create a playbook, and set the standard for future hires. You will work closely with the Implementation Consultant, the SaaS platform development team, and city staff to ensure successful customer onboarding and implementation. Your work will involve writing code, running point on customer-side technical stakeholders, and providing feedback for tooling and product improvements.

• Define the role of Forward Deployed Engineer, create a playbook, and set the bar for future hires.
• Work alongside the Implementation Consultant to triage requirements and prioritize scalability and reusability.
• Own the technical side of new customer onboarding end to end, including legacy data extraction and production cutover.

• Strong TypeScript; comfortable in Python for throwaway extraction tooling
• Judgment about the bespoke-vs-repeatable line: you know when to hack it and when to turn it into tooling everyone uses
• Willing to travel to customer sites as needed
• 5+ years as a software engineer, with at least 2 in a customer-facing deployment role (FDE, solutions architect, solutions engineer at a data-heavy company, or implementation engineer who writes production code, not a configurator)
• Strong understanding of LLMs and agentic automations
• Integration depth: SSO (SAML/OIDC), REST/webhooks, ideally GIS (Esri/parcel data) and payments
• Genuine comfort in front of non-technical government customers; you can run a data-mapping sign-off with a city clerk and a security review with their IT director on the same day
• Strong SQL and data-migration instincts: you've untangled an undocumented legacy schema and gotten the data out clean, with an audit trail
• Experience being the first of a function and building the playbook
• Govtech, regtech, or other compliance-heavy vertical SaaS experience; you understand why a permit's legal review clock can never reset during a migration
• Heavy, sophisticated use of AI coding agents in real delivery work
• Palantir/Scale/Retool-style FDE background, tempered with product-company instincts
