  • You will lead integrative genomic analyses that uncover how genomes drive avian development and morphological diversity.
  • You will collaborate closely with developmental biologists, industry partners and students, building your independent research profile.

What you will deliver

  • Design and implement functional genomics experiments and analyses, including single-cell, chromatin accessibility and multi-omics datasets.
  • Develop, optimise and document reproducible computational pipelines in R, Python and HPC or cloud environments.
  • Collaborate with developmental biologists to interpret genomic findings, validate results and address key evolutionary questions.
  • Support and mentor PhD and Master’s students in bioinformatics analyses, data visualisation and best-practice workflows.
  • Contribute to manuscripts, reports, funding proposals and regular presentations for academic, industry and public audiences.

You may be a great fit if you

  • Hold a PhD in computational biology, bioinformatics, biology, computer science, or related quantitative discipline.
  • Bring at least two years’ bioinformatics experience in functional genomics, multi-omics, comparative genomics or statistical genomics.
  • Demonstrate strong scripting skills using Python, R and Linux-based HPC or cloud environments for large datasets.
  • Produce and curate genomic resources, using version control and reproducible workflows to support collaborative, team-based projects.
  • Collaborate effectively with wet-lab scientists, communicating complex results clearly to diverse stakeholders and industry partners.
  • Show a developing track record of high-quality publications and ambition to build an academic research career.

Your new team – School of BioSciences.

You will join the Trait Reconstruction Engineering and Experimentation (TREE) Lab within the School of BioSciences.

Our researchers blend developmental biology, genomics and evolutionary biology to understand how genomes shape organismal form.
