Senior Director, Market Access Strategy and Marketing
Alkermes · Waltham, MA, United States
About The Role
The Director/Senior Director, Market Access & Marketing will lead the market access strategy for LYBALVI and ARISTADA.
This role requires the ability to protect and improve market access through creative strategies, pricing, contracting and HEOR alignment therefore requiring a leader who can move fluidly between access economics and value story creation and who can translate both into a clear, compelling narrative for senior leadership.
The level (Director vs. Senior Director) will be calibrated based on the candidate's demonstrated scope of experience, strategic maturity, and readiness to operate with a high degree of autonomy at the senior leadership interface.
- Develop and own the end-to-end market access strategy for ARISTADA and LYBALVI.
- Optimize strategy for ARISTADA (formulary retention, GTN management, competitive response to generic or in-class pressure) and a growth strategy for LYBALVI (share capture, formulary expansion, access barrier removal, competitive entrants).
- Prioritize resources and investment across both brands based on lifecycle stage, competitive dynamics, and portfolio-level ROI
- Continuously reassess the access strategy as competitive entrants enter the market
- Partner with HEOR to prioritize evidence generation that supports both brands
- Monitor mental health, policy, and payer landscape and adjust strategy proactively.
- Collaborate with brand teams to ensure market access requirements are specifically interwoven with brand plans
- Oversee patient support and affordability program strategy (co-pay and fulfillment programs) as a lever for both adherence and uptake
- Ensure field-facing materials and sales enablement tools reflect current access realities so the sales organization can sell with accurate, current payer information.
- Own the strategic narrative for both brands in front of senior leadership
- Deliver concise, direct updates on performance, risks, and strategic recommendations at leadership and Management committee forums
- Build credibility as a trusted strategic voice — someone leadership turns to for strategic insight and guidance not just execution status updates.
- Manage, coach, and develop direct reports, building their strategic capability and readiness for increased scope over time.
- Set clear expectations and give direct, specific feedback that builds both tactical execution skill and strategic/communication maturity.
Core Competencies/Preferred Qualifications
- Communicates directly and concisely with senior leadership
- Comfortable defending strategy under challenge from senior stakeholders without becoming defensive or over-explaining.

- Builds trust and alignment quickly; resolves disagreement constructively and drives toward decisions rather than allowing stalling.
- Genuine fluency across both access (pricing, contracting, GTN, payer policy) and brand strategy
- Invests genuinely in direct reports' growth, giving feedback that is specific and actionable
- Delegates meaningfully to build team capability over time.
- Translates strategy into operating plans with clear milestones and ownership.
