Our Lady of Fatima School, located in the Magnolia neighborhood of Seattle, has been serving our community since 1954. The school is rooted in its values of love, community, faith, stewardship, and joy, and serves 290 students from preschool through 8th grade. OLF is committed to attracting and retaining outstanding candidates who will add to the racial, cultural, and gender diversity of our school community.

OLF is seeking a year-round, part-time custodian to work after school hours. We are looking for a dependable, hardworking individual who takes pride in creating a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and families. This position plays an important role in the daily care of our preschool through 8th grade building. The ideal candidate is self-motivated and values being part of a community dedicated to serving children and families. This position is Monday - Friday 4:00 - 9:00pm, with the opportunity for additional hours throughout the year as needed.

Responsibilities

Daily cleaning of

• Classrooms & Lunchroom - emptying all garbage, recycling, and compost containers
• Disinfecting high-touch areas
• Vacuuming classrooms and hallways
• Sweeping and mopping in the middle school classrooms and hallways

Other regular duties

• Sweeping/cleaning walkways and outdoor areas around campus
• General cleaning tasks as the need arises
• Small maintenance and repair tasks as needed
• Summer building projects (ie: cleaning carpets, classrooms, small painting jobs, etc)
• Prepare classrooms and building for beginning of school year
• Maintain cleanliness logs and complete shift reports to document completed tasks and areas inspected

Pay and Benefits

• The pay for this position will depend on experience and qualifications and ranges from $22 - $26/hour.
• Position is not benefit-eligible.

Qualifications

Requirements and Qualifications

• 18 years of age or older
• Prior custodial or janitorial experience, preferably within a school setting

Ability to perform physical requirements of the job, such as (but not limited to)

Standing/walking for long periods of time

Lifting or moving items up to 50 pounds (occasionally more)

Operating small machinery

Possess physical strength and stamina required for daily tasks

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Strong time management and multi-tasking abilities

Good verbal and interpersonal skills

Knowledge of effective cleaning processes, products, and tools

High school diploma or equivalent

Must pass background check and participate in Safe Environment course

Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications.
