The Business

Our Health and Group Benefits business helps large and mid-size clients control soaring health and welfare plan costs, improve health outcomes, and promote employee engagement through broad-based, state-of-the-art interventions.

Our solutions can include creative health plan design, vendor evaluation and management, pricing and funding strategies, data analytics, valuation support, legal compliance, and governance strategies.

We also provide specialty consulting services including clinical/health management program design, pharmacy solutions, disability/absence management strategies and claims audit services. Product-based solutions such as our pharmacy purchasing coalition round out our broad-based suite of offerings.

The Role

As a Health and Group Benefits Co-op, you will work beside some of the industry's top consultants while you progress toward becoming a thought leader of the future.

This is a client-facing consulting role. You will be staffed on variety of client accounts and have exposure to real client assignments which will draw on your imagination and creativity as well as your ability to analyze data, draw conclusions, and present results. These experiences will help build your knowledge of healthcare finance and develop industry expertise. Additional responsibilities can be tailored to fit your interests, but the main responsibilities will be as follows:

  • Project-manage strategic projects to support consultants’ day-to-day client service
  • Collaborate with internal subject matter experts (pharmacy, wellbeing, disability and leave, compliance, etc.) to respond to client questions in an effective and timely manner
  • Learn about the different health products and programs offered by various health and benefit vendors; evaluate and compare vendor products, services, and contracts
  • Design, distribute, and evaluate responses to surveys and RFPs
  • Partner with consultants to perform financial analyses including developing pricing and employee contributions strategies, modelling plan design alternatives and calculating claims reserves
  • Work collaboratively and build relationships with internal colleagues, clients, and vendor partners

The Requirements

  • Must be part of the Northeastern University co-op program
  • Progress towards a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in health science, public health, health management, finance, business administration, consulting, or actuarial science work with a minimum overall GPA of 3.25
  • Work experience that demonstrates strong client service skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Passion for solving problems and sharing solutions that exceed the standards of the client
  • Ability to take initiative, stay organized, and work independently, but also work with multiple teams in a highly collaborative environment
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel
  • “Hybrid Role” with 2-3 days/week in-office encouraged
  • Undergrad applicants must be 2nd or 3rd co-op candidates, or have comparable internship experience
  • Graduation date between May 2027 through May 2028
  • Able to work legally in the United States indefinitely and without Visa sponsorship

Compensation and Benefits: Base salary range and benefits information for this position are being included in accordance with requirements of various state/local pay transparency legislation. Please note that salaries may vary for different individuals in the same role based on several factors, including but not limited to location of the role, individual competencies, education/professional certifications, qualifications/experience, performance in the role and potential for revenue generation (Producer roles only).

Compensation: The hourly rate being offered for this role is $27-$30/hr USD. This role is also eligible for over-time.
