For our office in Cologne or Munich , we are currently looking for a Director (m/f/d) Life Insurance Capital & Reinsurance Advisory (EMEA) with preference for experience in the German market) to join our team as soon as possible .

We are seeking a highly motivated and commercially minded Director to support the growth of our Life Insurance Advisory and Reinsurance business across EMEA. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and strengthening relationships with C-suite executive and senior client leadership, identifying and originating capital management opportunities, advising clients on strategic capital optimization solutions, and supporting the placement and execution of reinsurance transactions.

This role sits at the intersection of strategic advisory, capital management consulting, and reinsurance broking, requiring strong technical understanding, commercial acumen, and exceptional stakeholder management skills.

Key Responsibilities

Client Relationship Management

  • Develop and deepen relationships with CEOs, CFOs, CROs, Heads of Capital, and other senior decision-makers across EMEA life insurers.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients on capital, risk, financial resilience, growth, and strategic transactions.
  • Build and execute relationship plans for priority clients and prospects.
  • Represent the firm at industry conferences, client meetings, and executive forums.

Capital Management Advisory

  • Lead discussions with insurers regarding capital optimization strategies and balance sheet efficiency.
  • Advise clients on a broad range of capital management solutions, including:
  • Funded and unfunded reinsurance structures
  • Longevity and mortality transactions
  • Financial reinsurance
  • Capital relief and solvency optimization
  • Legacy portfolio solutions
  • New business strain management
  • Risk transfer and alternative capital solutions
  • Support clients in evaluating strategic alternatives and assessing transaction economics.

Reinsurance Transaction Origination & Execution

  • Originate, develop, and execute reinsurance opportunities across the life insurance sector.
  • Partner with broking teams to structure and place transactions with global reinsurers.
  • Coordinate transaction processes, including:
  • Strategy development
  • Market engagement
  • Request for proposal (RFP) processes
  • Bid evaluation
  • Commercial negotiation
  • Contract finalization
  • Support complex and cross-border transactions across EMEA markets.

Business Development

  • Identify emerging market trends and opportunities within life insurance capital management and risk transfer.
  • Develop thought leadership materials and market insights.
  • Contribute to sales strategy, pipeline development, and revenue growth objectives.
  • Collaborate across advisory, actuarial, broking, investment, and M&A teams to deliver integrated client solutions.

Internal Leadership

  • Mentor and support senior team members.
  • Drive collaboration across regional and global teams.
  • Contribute to the continued development of the firm's capital advisory capabilities and market presence.

Required Experience

  • 10+ years of experience within life insurance, consulting, reinsurance, investment banking, actuarial advisory, or capital management.
  • Strong understanding of:
  • Solvency II and regulatory capital frameworks
  • Life insurance balance sheets and capital management
  • Reinsurance markets and risk transfer structures
  • Financial and strategic implications of capital solutions
  • Experience interacting with senior client stakeholders and executive leadership teams.
  • Demonstrated involvement in reinsurance, capital optimization, M&A, or strategic transactions.
  • Strong commercial and business development skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working within an insurer, reinsurer, advisory firm, broker, or consulting organization.
  • Knowledge of major EMEA life insurance markets.
  • Actuarial, finance, economics, accounting, or related professional qualifications.
  • Established network within the EMEA life insurance industry.
