About The Role

Role and Scope of Position

Responsible for implementing strategic regulatory initiatives and working with key regulatory stakeholders that enable the development of strong regulatory policy and drive regulatory successes. Additionally, works with various internal departments across the Company to ensure that regulatory filings and external facing documents are in alignment with regulatory policy positioning and that the priorities and input from key regulatory stakeholders are communicated and are carefully considered in internal business decision making. This role serves as a key liaison between the company and external stakeholders, helping to advance regulatory outcomes, identify emerging risks and opportunities, and support the company's long-term strategy.

Manager, Regulatory Policy and Stakeholder Engagement

Essential Functions

Regulatory & Stakeholder Relations

Develop and maintain productive, credible relationships with state regulatory agencies, government officials, consumer advocates, trade associations, industry groups, and other key stakeholders.

Represent the company in meetings, working groups, industry forums, and stakeholder engagement activities.

Serve as a trusted company representative and ambassador with external audiences.

Build coalitions and identify opportunities for collaboration on strategic regulatory and policy initiatives.

Strategic Regulatory Support

Monitor and assess regulatory proceedings, legislative developments, and policy initiatives that may impact the company.

Provide internal awareness regarding stakeholder perspectives, regulatory trends, and emerging risks.

Support development and execution of regulatory strategies aligned with company objectives.

Evaluates regulatory and industry trends, working with cross-functional internal teams to ensure regulatory positions improve the Company’s regulatory relations.

Provides prompt and accurate information to regulators and provides regulatory guidance to the business regarding what regulators and stakeholders support.

Reviews informational responses that will be submitted to regulators to ensure that it conforms with regulatory affairs strategy.

Works closely with internal and external partners on regulatory concepts related to emerging policy issues.

Works directly with internal subject matter experts, to ensure regulatory strategy is implemented and helps to coordinate cross-functional support across Eversource on major regulatory dockets.

Participates in Emergency Response Activations.

Relationship Management

  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships across the utility and energy industry.
  • Support the development of stakeholder engagement plans for priority initiatives and regulatory matters
  • Identify and proactively address stakeholder concerns before they become business risks.
  • Foster trust, credibility, and transparency in all stakeholder interactions.

Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications

Technical Knowledge/Skill

  • Excellent interpersonal skills are critical to this role.
  • Organizational skills are necessary to lead multiple projects.
  • Experience with building key relationships (externally and internally) and building credibility with key influencers is a priority.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of the policy initiative Regulators support.
  • A leader comfortable with a high degree of accountability and influence in a diversified business environment.
  • Demonstrate an open, honest communication style and make fact-driven decisions.
  • Results-oriented, decisive, proactive and a change leader within the organization.

With both an eye for analytics and the ability to focus on the broader landscape, other specific qualifications include

  • Strong analytical skills including experience using both qualitative principals and quantitative analysis to develop regulatory policy.
  • Sound business judgment with the ability to take raw analytical findings and present nuanced and seasoned recommendations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong influencing skills to penetrate and work effectively throughout the organization.
  • Work well across functional teams and have the leadership/influencing skills to leverage resources, create consensus and lead change.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business or technical discipline or related experience
  • Graduate degree in business or engineering is desirable

Experience

Minimum of ten (10) or more years of experience successfully building relationships, leading change, and managing complex projects.

Working Conditions

Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.

Travel is required. Manages multiple projects in multiple locations at one time. This will require visiting multiple locations on a frequent basis including but not limited to attending hearings and technical sessions.

Attends to problems in off-hours and for extended periods as necessary.

Work includes analyzing, consulting, designing, implementing, presenting, leading, and coordinating.

This role works in an environment that often requires the performance of multiple simultaneous activities, where deadlines need to be met and work is performed under pressure while involving significant business commitments and results.

HYBRID WORK POLICY

Eversource supports work-life balance by offering hybrid schedules for certain roles. Eligibility is based on job responsibilities, operational needs, nature of work and team dynamics. Current guidelines require employees to work at least three days in the office, including Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with the third day set by the employee and supervisor based on department needs. These guidelines apply to roles approved for remote work and are subject to change, based on managerial discretion and work performance. All applicants must be able to work up to five days in the office if needed (for example: emergencies, training, or other business needs) or should the policy change.

$145,090.00-$161,210.00

Responding to emergency situations to meet customers’ needs is part of every employee’s role. If employed, you will be given an Emergency Restoration assignment. This means you may be called to assist during an emergency outside of your normal responsibilities, work hours and location.
