Compliance Specialist - MEX

About The Role
PURPOSE
The Compliance Specialist manages the due diligence and risk management responsibilities needed to ensure that carriers utilized by WWEX Group meet WWEX Group’s compliance standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Analyze motor carrier data to determine whether registering and existing carriers meet the company’s carrier qualification requirements
- Utilize motor carrier monitoring services, government databases, and other resources during the due diligence process to identify and assess carriers that pose an unreasonable amount of risk to GlobalTranz; take actions to reduce that risk. Maintain accurate background data on carriers and ensure proper record keeping in WWEX Group operating systems
- Validate documents such as motor carrier insurance certificates and registration documents.
- Accurately update company carrier management systems
- Respond timely to and escalate other carrier inquiries sent by carrier sales representatives and GlobalTranz agents
- Promote strong ethical standards in day-to-day functions and among team members
- Identify when team or leadership involvement is necessary to determine the proper course of action when issues arise during the business relationship with carriers. Collaborate with Manager of Contracts and Carrier Compliance to identify inefficiencies and develop effective policies and procedures
- Embrace the opportunities to pick up new activities that fall broadly in the purpose of the role
- Work on special projects as they arise
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Related legal/compliance, fraud prevention experience or background in logistics and/or trucking industries preferred
- High level of detail orientation
- Strong critical thinking skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong Microsoft Word, Excel, and internet browsing, and search knowledge required
- Strong business ethics
- Able to conform and promote the company’s standards of conduct
- Ability to communicate effectively using various methods such as phone, email, messenger, and in-person
- Personal initiative: strives to learn and improve, seeks out ways to better themselves and the company
- Ability to multitask in a fast paced, changing environment
- Ability to adapt to dynamic fraud trends in the freight industry.
- Self-motivated and hard-working
- Comfortable working with multiple computer operating systems and programs while completing tasks is critical to the success of this position
QUALIFICATIONS
- 1-2 years’ experience in compliance role preferred
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work Environment: Job is typically performed in a general office environment.
