About The Role
About the role The Electrical/Electronic Engineer is responsible for the Engineering component of New Product Development projects, supporting the Head of Electronic Engineering, Project team, NPD Designers, Quality Department, and NPD Commercial in the delivery of innovative and quality Engineering solutions and services to meet the timing, product specification, and commercial objectives of the NPD programme. Key responsibilities include: Complete detailed electronic PCBA design using Altium, including DFM/DFA, to optimise product performance and cost. Build functional prototype circuits for design verification. Develop electrical systems and electronic circuits in collaboration with NPD Mechanical Engineers, Firmware Engineers, Quality Engineers, Designers and external resources. Create and maintain FMEA documentation and develop machine control algorithms. Conduct DFMEA, PFMEA, DFx, engineering statistical analysis and manufacturing capability studies. Develop testing plans for components, electronic boards, home appliance sub-systems and finished products. Conduct verification and validation testing of electronic boards and small electrical appliances against product specifications. Develop and carry out component and product life testing to ensure products meet internal quality and reliability standards. Conduct failure analysis on faulty appliances, electronic boards and components. Prepare electronic boards and supporting technical documentation for UL, IEC and EMC compliance testing. Create and maintain technical documentation including schematics, board layouts, Bills of Materials, test reports and component certifications. Support component, compliance and production release processes to ensure project and production timelines are achieved. Attend factories as required to evaluate pilot and production runs and ensure products meet engineering, quality and performance standards. Assess production lines, manufacturing methods, jigs, fixtures and quality systems and support the resolution of production issues. Maintain strong working relationships with new and existing vendors and work collaboratively to resolve technical, testing, compliance and production issues.
