About The Role
Role: Lead - Industrial Engineering Location: Hosur, Tamil Nadu Reporting to: Head - Plant & Industrial Engineering Team name: Industrial & Plant Engineering, Operations About the Team and the Role The Industrial & Plant Engineering Operations team at Ather is responsible for plant design, assembly line layout planning, lean manufacturing execution, material flow optimization, and driving shop floor productivity. This role is for a Lead - Industrial Engineering who will oversee industrial engineering practices, execute MES for multi-variant lines, drive capacity enhancements, optimize manufacturing processes, and lead and upskill the IE team. Responsibilities Conduct Time & Motion / MOST studies, ergonomics analyses, and line balancing activities to enhance plant capacity and support New Product Introductions. Drive Greenfield plant design, single-piece flow line design, layout planning, and utility layout preparation as per regulatory compliance. Implement and execute Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) for multi-variant assembly lines and manage assembly line engineering changes. Design and optimize internal material flow, storage strategies, and material packaging standardization. Deploy Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma tools, including Value Stream Mapping and Standardized Work concepts, to eliminate waste and reduce lead times. Prepare feasibility studies and execute cost-optimization measures across assembly and plant operations. Establish shop floor manpower planning policies, procedures, and process flow diagram linkages per part and product families. Lead, mentor, and upskill the Industrial Engineering team while engaging shop floor associates to improve work efficiency and productivity. Experience and Qualifications B.E/B.Tech/MBA in Industrial Engineering or a related field 12 to 15 years of experience in Industrial Engineering within the automotive industry Must Have Competencies Executing Time & Motion / MOST studies, Ergonomics analyses, and Line Balancing for assembly line optimization. Applying Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles, including Value Stream Mapping and Standardized Work execution. Designing Greenfield plant layouts, single-piece flow lines, and compliance-aligned utility layouts. Implementing Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) for multi-variant assembly lines and technical change management. Good to Have Competencies Optimizing internal material flow, storage layout designs, and standardized material packaging systems. Developing Process Flow Diagrams and mapping structural linkages across part and product families. Formulating shop floor manpower planning policies and associate productivity enhancement models.
