Job Objective

Provide electrical engineering expertise and technical oversight within the Project Management Consultancy (PMC) team for ADNOC oil and gas projects. Ensure that all electrical engineering activities performed by EPC contractors comply with ADNOC standards, project specifications, applicable international codes, and industry best practices. Support project execution throughout FEED, detailed engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and start-up phases while ensuring safety, quality, cost efficiency, and schedule adherence.

Engineering Management & Technical Review

  • Review and approve electrical engineering deliverables prepared by EPC contractors and engineering consultants.
  • Ensure compliance with ADNOC standards, project specifications, UAE regulations, and international codes such as IEC, IEEE, NFPA, and BS standards.
  • Provide technical guidance and recommendations on electrical engineering matters.
  • Support multidisciplinary engineering reviews and resolve technical interface issues.
  • Participate in design reviews, value engineering studies, and constructability assessments.
  • Electrical Design Oversight
  • Review and monitor electrical system designs, including:
  • Power generation and distribution systems
  • High Voltage (HV), Medium Voltage (MV), and Low Voltage (LV) systems
  • Substations and switchgear
  • Transformers and motor control centers (MCCs)
  • UPS systems and battery systems
  • Electrical load calculations and load flow studies
  • Short circuit, protection coordination, and arc flash studies
  • Earthing and lightning protection systems
  • Hazardous area electrical installations
  • Lighting systems and small power distribution
  • Ensure electrical designs meet operational, reliability, maintainability, and safety requirements.

Contractor Engineering Management

  • Monitor EPC contractor engineering performance and compliance with project requirements.
  • Review technical queries, design deviations, concessions, and engineering change requests.
  • Evaluate contractor proposals and recommend optimal engineering solutions.
  • Participate in technical clarification meetings and design workshops.
  • Ensure timely resolution of engineering issues affecting project schedules.

Procurement & Vendor Package Support

  • Review electrical equipment specifications, datasheets, and procurement documents.
  • Evaluate vendor offers and technical bid evaluations.
  • Review vendor drawings and documents for major electrical equipment.
  • Ensure vendor packages comply with project and ADNOC requirements.
  • Support factory acceptance tests (FATs) and vendor inspections when required.

Construction & Commissioning Support

  • Provide technical support during construction, installation, testing, and commissioning phases.
  • Review construction methodologies and electrical installation procedures.
  • Support resolution of site technical issues and non-conformance reports (NCRs).
  • Participate in site inspections, pre-commissioning activities, and system handovers.
  • Ensure electrical systems are commissioned safely and in accordance with project requirements.

Interface & Coordination Management

  • Coordinate with process, mechanical, piping, civil, instrumentation, telecom, and operations disciplines.
  • Ensure proper integration of electrical systems with other project systems.
  • Participate in project coordination meetings and engineering reviews.
  • Support effective management of interfaces between ADNOC, PMC, EPC contractors, and vendors.

Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Ensure engineering deliverables meet project quality standards.
  • Participate in technical audits, design reviews, and quality assessments.
  • Verify implementation of project specifications and lessons learned.
  • Monitor closure of engineering comments and audit findings.

HSE & Risk Management

  • Ensure electrical engineering activities comply with ADNOC HSE requirements.
  • Support HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, constructability, and risk assessment workshops.
  • Promote safe design principles and electrical safety requirements.
  • Identify project risks related to electrical systems and recommend mitigation measures.

Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare engineering reports, technical evaluations, and progress updates.
  • Review contractor engineering schedules and deliverable status reports.
  • Monitor engineering performance against project milestones.
  • Maintain records of technical reviews, approvals, and project correspondence.

Expected

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in oil & gas projects upstream offshore industry working for competitors’ organization such as Kent, KBR, Worley, Petrofac, Saipem
  • PMC experience is high preferable
  • Large projects experience is must. Middle East / GCC experience on projects with Saudi Aramco, Qatar Energy, PDO, etc. is a must
  • At least 3+ years’ experience in similar position
  • At least 5+ years in a PMC role on ADNOC or similar Middle East projects
  • Strong experience in large-scale EPC/EPCM projects (CAPEX > USD 500M)
  • Familiarity with ADNOC standards, specifications, and work practices is essential
  • Must be qualified to obtain a CICPA and a UAE work visa
