About The Role
Job Summary: The Electrical Engineer is responsible for managing the design, installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems within civil/building construction projects. The role involves preparation and review of electrical drawings, technical documents, and BOQs, coordination with multidisciplinary teams, supervision of site activities, and ensuring compliance with project specifications, international standards, and HSE requirements throughout the project lifecycle. Key Responsibilities: Prepare, review, and analyze electrical deliverables including general arrangement drawings, wiring diagrams, single-line diagrams, substation layouts, cable routing and trench layouts, cable schedules, interconnection diagrams, cable tray layouts, lighting calculations, MCT sizing, and lightning and grounding systems. Develop and review technical documents such as method statements, termination drawings, bills of materials, junction schedules, and technical specifications. Apply technical knowledge of MV/LV switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS systems, cables, motors, lighting fixtures, earthing, and lightning protection systems. Perform electrical load calculations and support equipment sizing and selection activities. Prepare technical qualifications, deviations, concession requests, and exemption lists in line with client and project specifications. Coordinate with Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Instrumentation, and other disciplines to ensure proper integration of electrical systems with civil works. Prepare, review, and update shop drawings and as-built drawings, ensuring timely submission and client approval. Identify scope changes and variations, and support technical discussions and agreements with clients, subcontractors, and vendors. Provide on-site supervision during construction, installation, testing, and commissioning activities to ensure compliance with approved drawings and specifications. Prepare material take-offs (MTO) and bills of quantities (BOQ) based on approved drawings and project requirements. Monitor site execution to ensure material availability, proper resource allocation, and adherence to project schedules. Oversee testing and commissioning of electrical systems including substations and field-installed equipment. Ensure proper document control, review, and distribution of project documents. Maintain calibration status of electrical testing equipment and instruments. Coordinate and participate in QA/QC activities including inspections, audits, and approvals with clients, contractors, and third-party inspectors. Conduct quality audits on subcontractors, vendors, and internal departments to ensure compliance with project standards. Support and conduct quality and HSE training programs for the workforce. Ensure compliance with project HSE requirements and safe working practices at all stages of execution. Required Qualifications & Competencies: Bachelor’s degree (BE/B.Tech) in Electrical Engineering. 5+ years experience in electrical engineering roles within civil/building construction, preferably high-rise building projects. Strong knowledge of LV/MV electrical systems including switchgear, transformers, UPS, cables, motors, and related electrical equipment. Proficiency in preparing and interpreting single-line diagrams, substation layouts, cable routing and trench drawings, cable schedules, and interconnection drawings. Hands-on experience in installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical equipment in substations and field installations. Ability to manage site activities, ensure timely material availability, and coordinate manpower, resources, and procurement activities. Strong coordination skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders. Familiarity with applicable international electrical codes, standards, and authority requirements. Experience in preparation and review of shop drawings and as-built documentation. Knowledge of HSE requirements and ability to coordinate QA/QC activities with clients, contractors, and third-party inspectors. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and deliver under tight project deadlines.
