We are seeking a progressive visionary with a high degree of professional energy and a proven track record. This role requires a dynamic leader with a passion for provider growth marketing, a strategic mindset, and the ability to execute high-impact initiatives that drive measurable results.

The successful candidate will develop and implement diverse marketing programs tailored to enhance provider and patient acquisition and retention, leveraging channels such as social media, digital advertising, email, direct mail, webinars, and events to drive consumer engagement and growth. The Director will shape public perception and establish industry leadership by developing strategic growth opportunities based on insights and data, while tracking and reporting campaign success using OKRs and analytics to refine strategies. Collaboration with internal teams and external partners is essential to execute marketing initiatives effectively and requires a deep understanding of provider and consumer behaviors, strategic thinking, creativity, and the ability to drive marketing success in the healthcare sector. The focus will be on marketing to providers to drive referrals and grow brand equity.

The Director will also own the go-to-market process for several critical service lines, including Cancer, Neurosciences, Heart & Vascular, Digestive Health, and others. They will create fact books based on market, customer, competitors, and UChicago Medicine data and analysis. They will also create playbooks that enable the broader marketing department and agencies to execute the volume-driving strategies.

This position is based in Chicago with the expectation that you will have an onsite presence at least 2 days per week, sometimes more often, given meetings and organizational priorities.

Who you are

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Business, or related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience with a notable record of results while working as a leader in healthcare system provider marketing, driving strategic growth initiatives, and managing cross-functional teams. Experience managing small teams.
  • People leader, effective at building effective marketing organizations across a highly complex healthcare or hospital organization with numerous service lines.
  • Experience owning integrated marketing strategies: brand management, service line marketing, digital/social, internal and external communications, and data/analytics for the health system.
  • Experience partnering tightly with physician leaders and service line executives to translate business strategy into marketing and communication plans.
  • Proven track record developing and leading comprehensive marketing strategies and initiatives in the healthcare sector, with a focus on driving provider referrals, patient acquisition, and retention.
  • Experience leading agencies to create high-performing content.
  • Experience deploying integrated marketing campaigns across diverse channels including social media, digital advertising, email, direct mail, webinars, and events, effectively leveraging each for personalized consumer/provider engagement.
  • Strong ability to tell stories with data. Strong expertise in monitoring and analyzing marketing performance metrics, using OKRs and key indicators to track success, optimizing strategies, and enhancing ROI across all marketing campaigns.
  • Strong relationship builder with exceptional communication and leadership skills and a track record of influencing senior leaders and managing external partners.
  • Bold, creative, courageous, and innovative mindset who is able to inspire and motivate others; well-versed in operating in a very competitive healthcare marketplace.

What you’ll do as the Director, Growth Marketing

  • Deeply partner with service lines to build integrated marketing campaigns that deliver their acquisition and awareness goals.
  • Develop and implement a cohesive strategy that strengthens UChicago Medicine’s identity as a trusted leader in healthcare.
  • Drive organizational alignment and a clear and motivating vision to provide an attractive organization to partner providers. Develop and implement market-based strategies to increase physician referral into UCM, resulting in patient acquisition, patient retention, and revenue generation within the B2B/P market.
  • Proactively address challenges faced by physicians and develop solutions to enhance their experience and satisfaction with UCM.
  • Develop and execute strategies for physician engagement across various stages of their professional journey within the B2B market.
  • Understand and map customer and referrer motivations, behaviors, and usage patterns to inform relevant content delivery and healthcare solutions, while developing a multi-year consumer partner growth roadmap aligned with Signature Service Line and Fiscal Year growth goals.
  • Develop outbound marketing strategies leveraging Salesforce Marketing Cloud sales enablement tools to support and enhance both patient acquisition and retention efforts, including converting targeted leads into loyal customers, mapping consumer journeys, identifying key activities, and developing personalized communication strategies.
  • Develop and lead engagement programs aligned with growth objectives, utilizing events, sponsorships, thought leadership, communications, executive briefings, and direct marketing.
  • Develop and refine marketing content to drive engagement and conversions, maintain marketing collateral, craft compelling narratives, provide tools and training for effective consumer engagement, and collaborate with stakeholders.
  • Prioritize strategic growth opportunities based on internal and external interviews, market data, and internal insights, collaborate with institution leaders and frontline colleagues in enrollment, patient success, and medical functions to assess risks and refine implementation strategies, and create business cases with implementation timelines for promising opportunities.
  • In collaboration with the analytics team, develop a comprehensive set of dashboards to track performance against PY and targets – with a focus on developing and integrating a suite of cross-cutting (e.g., across marketing, enrollment, retention, academics) key institution-level views – and the “roll up/roll down” versions of these at the team and individual levels to drive coherent performance management
  • Collaborate with Physician Relations, Operations, Clinical leadership, and other teams to ensure messaging supports organizational priorities and provider engagement efforts.
  • Foster efforts to positively impact the organization’s visibility, image, and relationship with its surrounding community.
