About The Role

Role Overview

This position will identify and evaluate amateur prospects in preparation for the First-Year Player Draft, in addition to other assigned scouting duties.

Key Responsibilities

Primary duties to include, but not limited to, the following

  • Evaluate & recommend amateur players for the First-Year Player Draft
  • Communicate and collaborate with employees throughout the Orioles organization
  • Utilize in-person looks, video, data & technology to enhance decision making on players
  • Compose scouting reports on draft-eligible players
  • Build relationships with players and families of players
  • Build & maintain relationships with members of the baseball community
  • Complete comprehensive assessments of player’s backgrounds & makeup
  • Plan and organize workouts for organization to evaluate players
  • Maintain area schedule and prioritize top prospects
  • Collect video on draft eligible players and upload to video system
  • Perform and execute Pro Scouting coverage as assigned
  • Represent Orioles organization in a professional manner

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • Ability to work long hours, evenings, weekends, holidays, & often in adverse outdoor conditions
  • Ability to own and operate a vehicle and travel extensively
  • Strong ability to self-motivate, self-organize, and attention to detail
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • High computer and internet proficiency
  • Strong knowledge of baseball information & evaluation
  • At least 3 years’ experience from a variety of backgrounds, which can include: Scouting, Coaching, Education, Business, or other fields.
  • Prior playing experience

EXEMPTION STATUS

This position is classified as exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). It requires the consistent exercise of independent judgment, oversight of major partnership accounts, and significant cross-functional collaboration. Because the role includes managing strategic responsibilities, operating autonomously, and working outside standard business hours during games and events, the Manager is not eligible for overtime pay. Flexibility, leadership, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment are essential.
