Position Summary

The position is part of the Lab IT Solutions team, supporting scientists and laboratory staff with specialized IT services, systems, and infrastructure. The IT Lab Administrator works closely with researchers, Global IT teams, and external service providers to ensure stable, secure, and efficient operation of laboratory IT environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides IT support and troubleshooting for laboratory-related hardware and software in office and laboratory environments
  • Maintains and further develops local IT resources, including hardware, software, and licenses for specialized laboratory systems
  • Provisions and configures laboratory workstations, instrument-connected IT devices, and scientific software applications
  • Implements and documents IT capabilities and solutions supporting research laboratories
  • Collaborates closely with Global IT teams, subject matter experts, and external service providers to ensure aligned, compliant, and effective solutions

Requirements

You hold a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, completed training as a " Fachinformatiker” , or have a comparable qualification.

You have

  • Solid IT fundamentals in Microsoft-based environments, including Windows clients, user accounts, permissions, software installation, and basic troubleshooting
  • A basic understanding of networking concepts such as IP addresses, DNS, network shares, remote access, and connectivity troubleshooting
  • A hands-on, service-oriented mindset and the motivation to learn specialized laboratory technologies
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Fluent English, both spoken and written

Nice to Have

  • Experience in laboratory environments and scientific software (e.g., Chromeleon, Unicorn, MassHunter, MassLynx)
  • Experience with databases (e.g., MSSQL or Oracle)
  • Experience with Azure DevOps and agile ways of working
  • Experience with backup and recovery solutions (e.g., Veeam)
  • Experience with IT service management platforms (e.g., ServiceNow)
  • Experience with Cisco enterprise networking and security technologies (e.g., firewalls, Identity Services Engine (ISE), network access control, VLANs, and NAT).
  • German language skills
