About The Role

Amentum is seeking a Food Service Specialist (Casual) to join our team on Andros Island, Bahamas to support the Atlantic Undersea Test and Evaluation Center (AUTEC) mission. This position is part-time (on call) and is reserved for Bahamian citizens only. Must be a citizen of the Bahamas.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Accountable for point-of-sale (POS) operation, stock displays, routine cleaning in product areas.
  • Adhere to customer satisfaction guidelines and demonstrate appropriate interactions with customers while completing transactions, answering questions, assisting with problems, and referring customers to management when appropriate.
  • Accountable for collaborating with material coordinators to maintain consistent product replenishment.
  • Help ensure the safeguarding of assets (cash and inventory) and maintain cleanliness in the dining room.
  • Monitor food inventory and order new ingredients and supplies as needed and check for the freshness of food items.
  • Support management in providing a safe environment for fellow employees and customers by identifying, reporting, and correcting hazards.
  • Responsible for maintaining a safe workplace and ensuring that safety is the highest priority in the workplace.
  • Comply with all Environmental Health & Safety and Quality Assurance requirements and goals.
  • Comply and follow U.S. Public Health Service, Food and Drug Administration, 2009 Food Code and revisions.
  • Comply with all site policies and procedures.
  • Follow instructions to detail for the task at hand by supervisor.
  • Prepare and follow recipes predetermined for the weekly menu.
  • Prepare, assemble, cook, and serve ingredients for menu items.
  • Collaborate with supervisors and other cooks to prepare meals during dining hours.
  • Provide feedback to the supervisor daily in verbal or written communication.
  • Stock, rotate, and maintain all food inventories for accuracy.
  • Properly store food items at appropriate temperatures per health code.
  • Prepare, clean, and restock dinning and kitchen areas for subsequent shifts by the end of your shift.
  • Perform jobs/tasks in an outside unconditioned environment at times (rare), while working in the hot and humid weather.
  • Work with the manager for any equipment failures and facility failures.
  • Wash dishes, glassware, and silverware.
  • Wash pots, pans, and trays.
  • Maintain a clean and organized pantry and coolers.
  • Clean counter-tops and walls, and mop floors.
  • Segregate and remove trash and garbage and place it in designated containers.
  • Regularly empty garbage containers.
  • Rinse out and wash garbage cans.
  • Sort bottles, plastics, and other recyclable items.
  • Stack clean dishes and transfer equipment to the proper storage area.
  • Be ready and willing to assist co-workers as situations arise.
  • Other jobs as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2+ yrs. experience as a Cook in the restaurant industry with banquet/ buffet style cooking.
  • Great customer service skills with the ability to provide timely, empathetic assistance to all customers.
  • Must be dependable (consistent, timely, responsive, organized, accountable, goal-oriented, positive, and constructive contributor).
  • PC literate with accurate data-entry skills required.
  • Expected to project a professional image, be task-attentive to minimize errors, good at managing time, and a creative self-starter with good communication skills.
  • Must be a proficient reader to understand and perform all written workflows, tasks, and procedures.
  • Provide applicable certifications.
  • Able to read, follow, and execute standardized recipes.
  • Strong knowledge of proper food handling procedures.
  • Able to work as part of a team in a busy kitchen atmosphere.
  • Currently have Serve Safe Certification or ability to obtain and maintain Serve Safe Certification or equivalent.
  • Computer literacy to navigate online required training, time keeping, and email.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Be fit for duty.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. repeatedly or as needed performing various assigned task.
  • Ability to do the following for extended periods of time: stoop, bend, kneel, reach, twist, and carry.
  • Ability to stand 8-10 hrs. per day.
  • Ability of a flexible schedule to be able to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and at times most holidays.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment, and have flexibility to move from one task to the next or work multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Be able to work in a team environment.
  • Be a problem solver or solution maker.
  • Reasoning ability.
  • Can define problems and collect data while establishing facts to draw valid conclusions.
  • Self-starter and motivated to perform at high level.
  • Must be a team player and have a willingness to work well with and assist other kitchen and restaurant staff.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in Point-of-sale (POS) operation preferred.
  • A minimum of two years working as a cashier in a grocery store or restaurant environment preferred.
