Position Overview
The Staff Feed Staff member is an essential team member dedicated to fueling, refreshing, and supporting the hard-working volunteers across Anthro SoCal. Operating directly under the Staff Feed Manager, you will stock, clean, and maintain the central Staff Feed Lounge. This means that you will ensure that snacks, beverages, cold storage items, and disposable utensils remain continuously replenished throughout the event. Additionally, you will assist with monitoring catered meal arrivals and serve as an attentive advocate for volunteers with special dietary needs, ensuring their designated meals are accurately distributed. If you take pride in creating a clean, welcoming break space and keeping convention staff energized and cared for, this role is a great fit.

On-site presence is required with flexible hours. Must plan to work the minimum volunteer hour requirement posted on the website

On-site presence may be required to assist with setup and teardown activities the day before and the day after the event
Key Responsibilities
Your duties will focus on lounge upkeep, food safety, inventory management, and dietary support
Lounge Restocking & Inventory
Keep the Staff Feed Lounge fully supplied by continuously monitoring and restocking snacks, drinks, refrigerated/frozen items, napkins, and disposable utensils
Cleanliness & Sanitation
Maintain a clean, hygienic, and organized lounge area by wiping down tables and counters, clearing trash and recycling, managing spill cleanup, and ensuring food storage meets sanitation standards
Catering Meal Logistics
Assist the Staff Feed Manager in receiving catered meal deliveries, verifying order completeness, helping with setup, and ensuring warm/cold catered dishes arrive and open on schedule
Dietary Advocacy
Assist with the distribution of special dietary meals (e.g., vegetarian, vegan, kosher, gluten-free, allergy-safe options), ensuring catered items designated for specific needs are served to the correct individuals
Informed Guest Services
Welcome staff members warmly as they enter the lounge for rest breaks, answer general questions about meal schedules, and foster an inviting, relaxing environment. At all times, you are expected to maintain Anthro SoCal’s high standards of decorum, warmth, and hospitality
Qualifications
Required
Hospitality & Customer Care
A warm, friendly, and helpful demeanor dedicated to providing a comfortable and restorative break experience for fellow volunteers
Attention to Detail & Food Safety Awareness
High accuracy and care when handling food, reading dietary labels, managing food safety (temp awareness, cleanliness), and safeguarding allergy-safe meals
Physical Capability & Endurance
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, lift and carry beverage cases, move food crates, and perform routine cleaning duties throughout your shift
Teamwork & Reliability
Dependability in adhering to shift schedules and working collaboratively under event leadership
Preferred
Food Service or Catering Background
Previous experience working in food service, catering, hospitality lounges, or kitchen environments
Fandom & Convention Knowledge
Familiarity with convention operations and volunteer workflows, helping you understand peak break times and anticipate high-traffic periods in the lounge
Dietary Knowledge
Basic understanding of common food allergies, dietary restrictions, and cross-contamination prevention guidelines
