About The Role

Job Description – Head, Quality Health & Safety (QHS) Control Panel Manufacturing Unit – Wind Turbine Generators (WTG) Position Details Job Purpose To lead and manage the Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental (QHSE) function for the WTG Control Panel Manufacturing Unit by establishing robust quality systems, ensuring product compliance, driving continual improvement, maintaining statutory and ISO compliance, and fostering a culture of safety and operational excellence across the plant. Key Responsibilities Quality Management Develop and implement the overall quality strategy for control panel manufacturing operations. Ensure compliance with customer specifications, engineering standards, and regulatory requirements. Lead Incoming Quality, In-Process Quality, Final Testing, and Outgoing Quality Assurance activities. Monitor product quality KPIs including First Pass Yield (FPY), Rework, Rejection, NCRs, and Customer Complaints. Drive root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action implementation using structured problem-solving tools. Oversee calibration, measurement systems, and testing equipment management. Establish supplier quality improvement programs in coordination with Procurement and Supplier Quality teams. Ensure effective quality planning during introduction of new products and engineering changes. Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Develop and maintain a safe working environment across all manufacturing and testing areas. Ensure compliance with Factories Act, Tamil Nadu Factory Rules, and other applicable EHS regulations. Lead risk assessment, hazard identification, safety audits, and incident investigations. Monitor implementation of Lockout-Tagout (LOTO), electrical safety, PPE compliance, and emergency preparedness programs. Drive zero-accident culture through employee engagement and awareness initiatives. Ensure compliance with waste management, hazardous material handling, and environmental requirements. Coordinate emergency response plans, mock drills, and first aid management systems. Systems & Compliance Maintain and improve ISO 9001, ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and customer-specific management systems. Lead internal audits, management reviews, surveillance audits, and certification audits. Ensure effective document control and record management systems. Monitor closure of audit findings, customer observations, and statutory compliance gaps. Prepare periodic compliance and performance reports for management review. Continuous Improvement Lead Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and Quality Improvement Projects. Drive reduction in Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ). Analyze quality and safety trends to identify improvement opportunities. Benchmark processes and adopt best industry practices. Promote a continuous improvement culture throughout the organization. Leadership & Team Management Lead Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Calibration, Incoming Inspection, EHS, and Documentation teams. Develop competency matrices, training plans, and succession plans for team members. Conduct performance reviews and drive employee development initiatives. Build cross-functional collaboration with Production, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, and HR departments. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Customer Complaint Rate Internal Rejection & Rework % First Pass Yield (FPY) Supplier Defect PPM Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) Audit Compliance Score Calibration Compliance % Corrective Action Closure Effectiveness Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) Near Miss Reporting & Closure Safety Observation Closure Rate ISO Certification Compliance Status Training Compliance % Educational Qualification Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline. Certification in Quality Management, ISO Lead Auditor, NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent preferred. Experience 12-18 years of experience in Quality and EHS functions within manufacturing industries. Minimum 5 years of leadership experience managing Quality and Safety teams. Experience in control panel manufacturing, electrical equipment, automation systems, industrial electronics, renewable energy equipment, or WTG-related manufacturing preferred. Approve quality procedures, inspection standards, and safety protocols. Escalate critical customer complaints, product failures, and safety incidents. Recommend supplier approval, suspension, or development actions based on quality performance. External Interfaces Customers, Certification Bodies, Statutory Authorities, External Auditors, Testing Agencies, Calibration Laboratories, and Suppliers.
