About The Role
Job Description: Head – Panel Unit Department: Operations / Manufacturing Location: Control Panel Manufacturing Unit (Wind Turbine Generator Manufacturing) Reports To: Business Head – Generator Division Job Purpose To provide overall leadership and management of the Wind Turbine Generator (WTG) Control Panel Manufacturing Unit by ensuring safe, efficient, cost-effective, and quality-driven operations. The role is responsible for Production, Planning, Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, Maintenance, Supply Chain Coordination, EHS, Administration, and overall plant performance to achieve business objectives, customer commitments, and profitability targets. Key Responsibilities Overall Plant Leadership Lead and manage all functions of the Control Panel Manufacturing Unit. Develop and execute operational strategies aligned with organizational goals. Drive manufacturing excellence, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction. Ensure achievement of production, quality, cost, delivery, safety, and inventory targets. Build a high-performance culture focused on accountability and continuous improvement. Production Management Ensure timely manufacturing and dispatch of control panels as per production plans. Monitor capacity utilization and manufacturing output. Optimize manpower, machines, materials, and methods to improve productivity. Review daily, weekly, and monthly production performance. Resolve production bottlenecks and resource constraints. Production Planning & Supply Chain Coordination Review production schedules and material availability to support customer commitments. Coordinate closely with Procurement, Stores, and Planning teams to ensure uninterrupted material flow. Monitor inventory levels and drive inventory optimization initiatives. Ensure efficient management of production priorities and customer delivery requirements. Quality Management Ensure compliance with customer specifications, quality standards, and regulatory requirements. Monitor Incoming Quality, In-Process Quality, Outgoing Quality, Systems, and Calibration functions. Drive reduction of defects, rework, customer complaints, and cost of poor quality. Review quality performance metrics and implement corrective actions. Lead customer audits and quality improvement initiatives. Manufacturing Engineering & Process Excellence Drive process standardization and manufacturing improvements. Lead initiatives related to Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, TPM, and productivity improvement. Ensure implementation of efficient manufacturing processes and work instructions. Support introduction of new products, technologies, and automation initiatives. Monitor process capability and continuous improvement projects. Maintenance & Infrastructure Management Ensure high availability and reliability of production equipment, testing systems, and utilities. Review preventive maintenance effectiveness and equipment performance. Approve infrastructure improvements and capacity enhancement projects. Monitor plant utility consumption and maintenance costs. EHS Leadership Ensure full compliance with EHS regulations and company safety standards. Promote a zero-accident and zero-harm culture within the facility. Review safety performance, incidents, risk assessments, and corrective actions. Ensure compliance with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 requirements. Lead emergency preparedness and safety improvement initiatives. Administration & Employee Welfare Oversee plant administration, security, housekeeping, canteen, and facility management activities. Ensure a safe, clean, and employee-friendly working environment. Support employee engagement and welfare initiatives. Ensure proper management of outsourced services and contractors. Financial & Cost Management Prepare and manage plant budgets and operational expenditures. Monitor manufacturing costs and drive cost reduction initiatives. Improve material utilization and operational efficiency. Support business profitability through productivity and waste reduction initiatives. Review CAPEX and OPEX requirements for plant operations. Team Leadership & People Development Lead and develop departmental heads and functional teams. Establish performance objectives and review organizational effectiveness. Identify training and development needs across departments. Promote employee engagement, teamwork, and succession planning. Support talent retention and leadership development initiatives. Compliance & Audit Management Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and customer requirements. Lead internal, external, customer, and certification audits. Ensure closure of audit observations and compliance actions. Maintain adherence to statutory and organizational requirements. Customer & Business Management Act as the primary operational interface for customers regarding manufacturing performance. Support customer visits, audits, and technical reviews. Ensure achievement of delivery schedules and customer satisfaction targets. Drive continuous improvement initiatives based on customer feedback. MBA/PGDM in Operations Management preferred. 15-20 years of manufacturing experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. Experience in Control Panel Manufacturing, Switchgear, Industrial Automation, Electrical Equipment, Wind Energy, or related industries. Proven experience in managing multi-functional manufacturing operations. Strong exposure to Production, Quality, Supply Chain, Maintenance, EHS, and Plant Administration. Experience in ISO-based manufacturing systems and customer audits.
