About The Role
DescriptionMonday-Friday, Evening hours
Areas Serviced
- General offices, private offices, lobbies, lounges, kitchen / break rooms, coffee areas, washrooms, restrooms,
- stairways, corridors, computer rooms, conference rooms and mailrooms (all common areas). No security access
- areas unless pre-approved. Schools include hallways and classrooms.
Floors
- Hard Surface floors swept and/or damp mopped
- Carpeted floors vacuumed and spot cleaned
- Entrance lobby floors cleaned
- Stairs vacuumed and/or swept
- Kitchen/break rooms swept and/or damp mopped
Restrooms
- Floors swept, mopped, and rinsed with a disinfectant detergent
- Fixtures cleaned and sanitized including toilet bowls, urinals, and hand basins
- Mirrors cleaned
- Small partitions and tile walls wiped down
- Sanitary napkin receptacles cleaned
- Waste receptacles emptied and resulting debris placed in designated areas. Liners
replaced from stock
- Towels, tissue, hand soap and feminine product dispensers refilled from stock
Receptacles
- Waste receptacles emptied and resulting debris placed in designated areas or
removed from building; liners replaced as needed from stock
- Smoking areas (if requested). Sand urns sifted, soiled sand emptied and refilled as
needed from stock.
Dusting
- Desks, filing cabinets, bookcases, chairs, tables and other office furniture to be
- dusted. NOTE: Letter files, telephones, personal items, etc. will NOT BE
- MOVED. Cleaners will dust around items ONLY.
- Windowsills, low ledges, moldings, picture frames, etc., dusted.
- Office machines will be feather dusted where desired.
- Personal items on desks/walls will NOT be dusted.
Glass
- Glass desktops cleaned and dry polished
- Entrance doors cleaned
- Smudges to be removed from partition glass
- Directory signs cleaned
Miscellaneous
- Decorative private offices and reception areas – special attention to be paid in
keeping with the various special furnishings
- Drinking fountains to be cleaned and sanitized
- Kitchen/break room tables, chairs and appliances damp wiped and skinks cleaned
- Coffee service area – counters damp wiped and sinks cleaned (Note – washing and
- drying of dishes available at extra charge; however; only dishes returned to break
- area by employees will be cleaned)
- Use of minimal lighting when working
- Lights to be turned off when nightly service is completed
- Janitorial closets to be kept neat and orderly
- All locks to be checked (and alarm set where necessary) before custodian leaves to
ensure that building is secure
