About The Role
Duties:
A Contract Dental Hygienist is mainly deployed at dental clinics or other institutions under the Department of Health on the following duties –
(a) cleaning, polishing and scaling of teeth;
(b) applying topical fluoride, fissure sealant, or other similar preventive agent to teeth;
(c) taking X-ray films intra-orally or extra-orally for the examinations of the mouth, teeth, jaws, and associated structures; and
(d) giving advice on matters relating to dental hygiene and providing support for oral health initiatives.
Entry Requirements:
Candidates should –
(a) have been registered with the Dental Council of Hong Kong as a dental hygienist [See Note 2];
(b) have a valid practising certificate for dental hygienists issued by the Dental Council of Hong Kong [See Note 2]; and
(c) have met the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 [See Note 3] or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination or the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent; and be able to speak fluent English and Cantonese.
Pay:
HK$19,930 to HK$27,120 per month [See Note (1)]
Terms of Appointment:
A successful candidate will be appointed on non-civil service contract terms for 12 months. Renewal of contract will be subject to the service need of the Department and the performance of the candidate.

Applicants should submit copies of the Certificate of Registration and Practising Certificate of Dental Care Professionals in the class of dental hygienist issued by the Dental Council of Hong Kong, and documentary proof of their language proficiency to the designated e-mail address (<[email hidden]>) on or before 14 September 2026 (Monday). The title of the post being applied for and the on-line application number should be quoted in the e-mail and copies of the supporting documents.
If candidates fail to provide the supporting documents as required, their applications will not be considered. Applicants should provide their e-mail addresses on the application forms. Candidates who are selected for interview will normally receive an invitation by e-mail in about six to eight weeks from the closing date for application. Those who are not invited for interview may assume that their applications are unsuccessful.
