ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Collect and document patient information through screening.
- Ensure availability of supplies and equipment.
- Maintain equipment and perform light housekeeping duties as necessary.
- Utilize basic sterile technique while setting up and assisting nurse and/or physician as required.
- Transport patients and deliver specimens and equipment to designated areas.
- Perform clerical duties as assigned.
- Answer telephone promptly; screen request for entrance through ambulance area (intercom)
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Working knowledge of computer programs utilized in the Emergency Department
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
As assigned and in accordance with the ER Tech Scope of Practice.
Desk Tech (unlicensed) may perform the following duties, keeping in mind the desk duties are primary
- Stock and order supplies
- Assist in cleaning rooms
- Transport stable patients being admitted to the General Med/Surg Unit (not ICU)
- Assist patients in/out of the Emergency Department
- KNOWLEDGE/SKILL/ABILITIES: Demonstrate knowledge and competency in performing basic patient care skills within the scope of the technician.
- AGE-RELATED COMPETENCIES: Demonstrates the basic knowledge and skills necessary to identify age-specific patient needs appropriate for this position.
- Information Management: Treats all information and data within the scope of the position with appropriate confidentiality and security.
- Risk Management/Quality Management/Safety: Cooperates fully in all Risk Management, Quality Management, and Safety Activities and Investigations.
MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
- Education High school diploma or equivalent.
- Work Experience – adequate experience to demonstrate the required skills and abilities
- Training – Completion of a CNA training program preferred.
- License/Certification – Current New Mexico Certified Nursing Assistant Certification preferred
- BLS - required within 90 days of employment
- ENVIROMENTAL CONDITIONS: Work environment consists of daily patient contact, which may include exposure to blood, or other body fluids.
