Site Engineer – Offshore High Voltage

About The Role

For a key Belgian player in the energy transition, JOBS IN MIND is looking for a Site Engineer to join a major offshore high-voltage infrastructure project. You will contribute to the development of new energy infrastructure connecting Belgian offshore wind power to the electricity grid.

Your role

As Site Engineer, you will be part of the construction team and work across the sites in Vlissingen and Schiedam, combined with the office in Brussels. You report to the Construction Lead and act as a key link between engineering, construction, quality and the EPC contractor.

Your responsibilities include

Ensuring safety and quality on site

Providing technical follow-up, mainly for electromechanical works

Acting as the main contact for technical questions from the engineering team

Supporting the Construction Manager and site team

Taking technical ownership of issues arising during outfitting and escalating major issues when required

Coordinating and participating in site inspections

Following up on quality issues and non-conformities

Reviewing technical documentation submitted by the contractor

Coordinating suppliers and external parties on site

Managing and structuring incoming inspection reports

Preparing weekly and monthly reports

Supporting technical analyses and improvement initiatives

You will work in a multidisciplinary team with inspectors, outfitting engineers, design engineers, construction managers and other project specialists.

The project

The project involves the development of a new offshore energy hub to connect Belgian offshore wind farms to the electricity grid. The infrastructure includes:

An artificial energy island with offshore transmission infrastructure

AC substations at 66 kV and 220 kV

6 export cable systems of approximately 50 km each

Construction of the substations is currently ongoing in Vlissingen and Schiedam. Outfitting activities are starting in summer 2026, making this a key position for the next phase of the project.

Profile

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant professional experience
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, preferably Electrical or Electromechanical Engineering
  • Offshore experience is a strong plus
  • Experience with topside outfitting is a plus
  • Experience across multiple technical disciplines is an advantage
  • Experience with QA/QC on a construction site is a plus
  • VCA VOL / SCC Supervisor certificate
  • Strong MS Office skills and good technical reporting abilities
  • Knowledge of Aconex is a plus
  • Strong safety and quality mindset
  • Structured and team-oriented way of working
  • Strong communication skills
  • Quick learner
  • Own standard PPE is required
  • Languages: Fluent English. Dutch is a plus.

  • Employment: Full-time, 5 days per week / 8 hours per day

Locations: Vlissingen, Schiedam and Brussels

Preferred: Based in Belgium or the Netherlands

For non-EU candidates, a valid work permit and residence permit allowing employment in Belgium are required.
