The Continuous Improvement Coordinator serves as a key resource in advancing organizational compliance, patient safety, quality improvement, and strategic initiatives. This position coordinates the development and maintenance of organizational policies, manages risk-related programs and reporting processes, administers workers' compensation activities, and supports organization-wide projects that drive operational and service excellence. Working closely with leadership and departmental teams, the Continuous Improvement Coordinator promotes regulatory compliance, reduces organizational risk, facilitates performance improvement efforts, and ensures the successful execution of strategic priorities that enhance organizational outcomes and patient experience.

Essential Functions

Policy and Procedure Management

  • Coordinate the development, review, approval, and revision of organizational policies and procedures.
  • Maintain the policy management system and ensure documents remain current and compliant.
  • Collaborate with department leaders to standardize policies and align them with regulatory requirements and best practices.
  • Monitor policy review schedules and facilitate timely updates.

Risk Management

  • Coordinate the organization's risk management program.
  • Assist with incident reporting, investigations, trend analysis, and corrective action follow-up.
  • Support regulatory reporting requirements related to patient safety events.
  • Participate in risk assessments and recommend strategies to reduce organizational risk.
  • Collaborate with leadership to promote a culture of safety and accountability.

Strategic Project Coordination

  • Coordinate organization-wide strategic projects and service line development from planning through implementation.
  • Develop project timelines, monitor milestones, and communicate progress to leadership.
  • Facilitate cross-department collaboration to ensure successful completion of organizational initiatives.
  • Track project outcomes and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Assist with the coordination and implementation of performance improvement projects across departments.

Worker’s Compensation

  • Managed end-to-end workers' compensation claims, ensuring timely reporting, documentation, and resolution in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Coordinated with employees, supervisors, medical providers, insurance carriers, and third-party administrators throughout the claims process.
  • Investigated workplace injuries and incidents to determine root causes and implement corrective actions to reduce future claims.
  • Monitored claim status, medical treatment plans, and return-to-work timelines to minimize lost workdays and claim costs.

Other Duties

  • Provide support, resources, and education related to policies, risk management, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in organizational committees, meetings, and workgroups as assigned.
  • Collaborate with department leaders and staff to implement process improvements and monitor outcomes.
  • Perform other related duties consistent with the responsibilities of the position.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of healthcare quality improvement, risk management, patient safety, regulatory compliance, accreditation standards, and policy and procedure development.

Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to coordinate multiple initiatives, prioritize competing demands, and meet deadlines.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities to evaluate data, identify trends, and develop effective process improvements.

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across departments, facilitate meetings, provide education, and effectively address patient and staff concerns.

Ability to interpret regulations, exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and work independently while promoting continuous improvement and organizational excellence.

Physical Requirements, Safety, and Environmental Conditions

Follows safe work practices, takes an active interest in preventing injury or illness and promoting a safe and healthful environment for self and others, and complies with Hospital and governmental safety regulations.

Must function independently, have personal integrity, have flexibility and the ability to work effectively with other personnel, clients, and support agencies

Sits, stands, bends, lifts, walks, and moves intermittently during working hours and ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
