About The Role
DescriptionSpecific Responsibilities
- Identify business news, emerging trends, and topics relevant to readers.
- Monitor the In Business editorial inbox and evaluate submissions for newsworthiness.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with regional business leaders, sources, and contacts to generate story ideas and reporting opportunities.
- Produce timely and accurate online news content
- Assist with real-time news coverage and write stories as assigned.
- Take ownership of designated business topics and beats, providing regular coverage across digital and print platforms.
- Create and maintain social media content supporting editorial coverage.
- Select and edit news content for inclusion in print publications.
- Contribute feature stories, special sections, and other editorial content as assigned.
- Collaborate with editorial staff to ensure consistent and comprehensive coverage across print, digital, newsletter, and social media channels.
- Assist with company-sponsored events throughout the year.
- Participate in the Great Game of Business and support company initiatives.
- Adhere to all company safety standards, including general workplace safety, cybersecurity, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field; equivalent professional experience may be considered.
- Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to consistently produce accurate, compelling, and error-free content under deadline pressure.
- Strong interviewing, reporting, editing, and fact-checking skills.
- Knowledge of journalistic standards, ethics, and best practices.
- Experience managing multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with digital publishing platforms, content management systems, and social media channels.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Valid driver's license and adhere to company driving eligibility requirements, including proof of auto insurance.
- Demonstrated alignment with company core values and ESOP culture.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer.
- Ability to communicate effectively in person, by telephone, video conference, and email.
- Ability to attend business meetings, interviews, networking functions, and company events.
- Ability to occasionally lift and carry materials weighing up to 20 pounds.
- Ability to travel locally as needed for interviews, meetings, and events.
