Postal Operative Nationwide 20 hours per week

Due to continued growth in our business, An Post is seeking reliable, customer-focused, and motivated Postal Operatives to join our Delivery & Collections team nationwide. Working on a 20-hour-per-week contract, successful candidates will work 4-hour shifts between 2:00pm and 8:00pm across 5 days per week. You will play a key role in ensuring the efficient collection, processing, and delivery of mail and parcels. This is a hands-on role that requires excellent attention to detail, strong customer service skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. The position involves working in both indoor and outdoor environments and includes a significant amount of driving and manual handling.

Collect mail and parcels from designated post boxes, post offices, customer locations, and business premises Sort and process incoming mail and parcels, ensuring items are correctly prepared for delivery Deliver mail, parcels, and packages safely, accurately, and on time Follow designated delivery and collection routes while maintaining safe and efficient working practices Handle all mail and parcels with care, ensuring they remain secure throughout processing, transport, and delivery Operate An Post delivery vehicles safely and in compliance with all road traffic and health and safety requirements Use handheld technology to record collections, deliveries, proof of delivery, and other operational information Provide a professional and positive customer experience during all customer interactions Work collaboratively with colleagues to support efficient day-to-day operations Maintain confidentiality and integrity in the handling of customer mail and information Comply with all An Post operational procedures, data protection requirements, and regulatory obligations Demonstrate An Post values and behaviours by showing respect, working together, putting customers first, and continuously seeking improvements

What We're Looking For Strong customer service and communication skills Comfortable using mobile devices and digital technology Flexible and adaptable, with a willingness to learn new processes and ways of working Ability to work independently and make sound decisions when faced with delivery or collection issues A team player who is willing to support colleagues and contribute to shared goals Strong organisational skills and attention to detail with a focus on accuracy Physically fit and capable of handling mail and parcels of varying sizes and weights Full valid Irish Category B (manual) driving licence Sufficient English language skills to understand instructions, follow procedures, and communicate effectively with customers and colleagues Self-motivated with the ability to work independently Available to work 20 hours across 5 days per week Available to work 4-hour shifts between 2:00pm and 8:00pm Previous experience in a delivery, logistics, postal, or customer-facing role is desirable but not essential Why Choose An Post?
