JOB PURPOSE

Lead, safeguard and develop Aiglon’s sports and activities provision so that every pupil, staff member and guest enjoys an inclusive, high-quality and safe programme.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Safety & Compliance

  • Conduct daily facility walk-throughs, logging hazards and initiating corrective action, which includes taking action to fix equipment where possible
  • Enforce best practice in child safeguarding and health & safety, fully aligned with Swiss regulations and Aiglon policies
  • Maintain inspection and servicing schedules for all sports equipment; liaise with the Director of Operations for repairs or replacement
  • Help to manage the bookings of the minibus fleet for the expeditions and sports departments
  • Ensure that the minibuses are in good order after use
  • Secure the Sports Centre at the end of the day or open hours (equipment check, lights, alarms, locks)

Programming & User Experience

Produce and publish the weekly Sports Centre and facilities timetable, balancing curriculum lessons, house practices, team training and community bookings. This includes the Padel Court, Alpina Pitch, Ski Lockers along with other sports spaces and facilities

Encourage a broad, lifelong engagement in physical activity by promoting a wide range of sports and wellbeing initiatives

Liaise proactively with the Health Centre, Deputy School Director (Pastoral) and Houseparents regarding students with medical or additional-needs profiles

Communicate clearly and courteously with all users, modelling professional conduct that earns trust from pupils and colleagues

Fitness Suite & Strength-and-Conditioning

  • Oversee presentation, cleanliness and day-to-day supervision of the Fitness Suite
  • Assist in the planning and coaching of age-appropriate S&C sessions
  • Monitor student progress (eg movement screens, jump tests, wellness surveys) and maintain records to inform individualised programmes
  • Educate students on safe lifting technique, recovery, nutrition and injury prevention; coordinate return-to-play plans with medical/physio staff
  • Foster a culture of respect for equipment and peers, ensuring correct footwear, clothing and hygiene standards at all times

Activities Co-ordination

Design, oversee and support a high quality and successful activities programme across the school through planning and programming the activity schedule, timings, staffing and resources

Quality assure the activities programme through observations, student, staff and parent surveys and liaison with outside external staff providers

Ensure effective and timely communication of information to students, staff and the wider community

Provide leadership, guidance and support to staff for effective programme planning, scheduling and execution

In collaboration with the Director of Character and the Head of Junior Activities, have a clear overall strategy in line with the schools mission for both the development and participation of our students in activities for enjoyment and lifelong engagement

Create energy and dynamism within activities and manage the day-to-day operation of the programme

Ensure that an effective activities programme exists to develop the leadership of our students

Work with the Director of Character and Educational Systems to ensure that there is an effective schedule of events and activities that fit within the school master calendar

Ensure that all students and parents are aware that activities are a school requirement and to provide the necessary support and guidance on how to use SOCs to make it possible for all students to engage and sign up to activities they are interested in

Work with the Director of Character and Educational Systems to continue to develop the processes and systems of SOCs to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the services delivered

Monitor student involvement and attendance at all activities and contact students and staff regarding student absence

Ensuring ongoing innovation, engagement and development so the students have access to a broad, balanced and constantly evolving programme of activities

Continuously evaluate and improve the programme to ensure it meets and aligns with the interests of the students

Provide opportunities, such as prize giving to showcase excellence or celebrate development and achievements in the wide range of activities and events across the school community

Oversee the purchasing and maintenance of resources, equipment and materials for the programme

Prepare detailed reports on the programme for the School Director in the reports to the Board of Directors

Working with the Director of Character, develop and implement risk management strategies for the programme and ensure all risk assessments are in place and regularly reviewed

Working with the HR department and Director of Character, to ensure that the central register of staff safeguarding checks is up to date and that there is due diligence with checks on external staff providers

Contribute to internal and external written and other communication of news and information about Activities across the school

Working with the Communications and Marketing team, evolve the activities section for the school website and school handbook

Administration

  • Produce termly participation reports of student engagement and ensure equipment compliance
  • Contribute to staff CPD by running short workshops on fitness, wellbeing or safe practice

OTHER TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To be available for School sporting events such as inter-house and inter-school competitions, Sports day and other major events
  • Understand and implement all School policies and procedures, particularly those relating to safeguarding children and young people
  • Undertake any other task which may be reasonably requested by the Director of Character Education to assist in the smooth running of the team
  • Understand the School’s Guiding Principles and uphold the ethos of the School at all times

The qualifications, experiences and attributes of the post-holder must match the detailed specification below

A. Education, Qualifications and Languages

Essential

Bachelor’s degree in Sports Science, Exercise Physiology, Sport Facilities Management or related discipline, or equivalent qualifications

Desirable

  • Accredited Strength & Conditioning certification (eg NSCA‑CSCS, UKSCA, ASCA Level 2 or Swiss equivalent)
  • Valid First Aid & CPR qualification
  • Working proficiency in French
  • B. Experience and Knowledge

Desirable

  • Minimum 5 years’ professional experience managing multi‑sport facilities, including student and staff supervision
  • Proven record of coaching S&C programmes for student athletes and teams
  • Experience working in an international school, university or elite sports academy
