Salary Range: $25.00-$25.00 per hour

Purpose Statement

The Music Aide instructs students on playing various instruments. (S)He is responsible for the care, maintenance, and storage of the instruments. The music aide helps to prepare students for various live performances throughout the school year.

Responsibilities

Conduct practice and rehearsals with students throughout the school year
Instruct students on the proper playing techniques of instruments
Assists students with reading music
Ensure the proper storage, care, and maintenance of instruments, requesting repair or new instruments when necessary
May assist with the proper set up of performance spaces
Assist the students in understanding how music is a reflection of God and their Christian walk
Model an exemplary Christian walk in speech and acts

QualificationsQualifications

Experience teaching and/or playing musical instruments
Experience with elementary or middle school aged students
BA/BS in music, education, or another related field preferred
Active membership/attendance at a Protestant Christian church (preferably CRC or RCA denomination) is required.
Supports the Mission and Doctrinal Statement of Valley Christian Schools

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position involves prolonged standing
Occasional bending, stooping, lifting, and carrying up to 25 pounds

WORK ENVIRONMENT

● The typical work environment is a climate-controlled building with occasional outside performances in various weather conditions
● The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud
● Occasional local travel to performances may be required
