Position Summary
The person responsible for this position must be flexible, hands-on, and have excellent multitasking skills. This person shall be able to clearly articulate a clear vision, the mission and ideas of the O-Gah-Pah Learning Center and the Downstream Learning Center to all staff, parents, community groups and other interested parties. Effectively manages all aspects of a learning to include human resources, curriculum, customer relations, marketing, quality control and physical facility. Provides and/ or oversees creative, age-appropriate programs to all children enrolled. Works in conjunction with the Department of Human Services State and Tribal licensing standards and develops a strong relationship with all government and licensing agents.
This person shall have experience and education in early child development, age, and developmentally appropriate activities, be able to research curriculum materials, write lesson plans, and have experience in training adults. This person shall have a degree in child development or degree in closely related subject. Requirements include supervisory experience, any licenses, certificates, or specialized training that are required by state law, tribes, and regulatory agencies. Candidate must possess excellent computer, organizational, and communication skills. Must be able to travel and have a valid driver’s license and be in good standing with driving record. CDL is required after employment to drive bus. Drug testing, tuberculosis (TB) test, background check, and fingerprinting required. EOE/Native American preference.

Vision and Mission
- Understand and support the mission statement as the vision of the centers.
- Articulate the mission statement to all staff and parents.
- Uses the mission statement as a basis for developing goals and objectives
- Sifts every aspect of the program through the mission statement.
General
Ensures center compliance with all tribal, federal, state laws, O-Gah-Pah Learning Center/Downstream Learning Center personnel policies, and O-Gah-Pah Learning Center/Downstream Learning Center parent policies.
Meets with fire, health, and licensing officials as they make their inspections. Complies with their recommendations.
Keep records and inform supervisor on reports from licensing, health, and the fire departments.
Completes all required paperwork and record keeping in a timely fashion and maintains organized files and records for all licensing and other government agencies.
Make applications for licenses from the licensing agency.
Human Resources
- Assists director in interviewing with prospective staff as needed.
- Obtains substitutes and volunteers when needed.
- Develops staff schedules and gets approval from Director.
- Orientates new staff members.
- Distributes personnel packets to new employees.
- Obtains new staff members signature on orientation check list.
- Maintains files on all staff members and obtains all appropriate records as needed.
- Be responsible for on-going training of staff through in-service training, staff meetings, and making suggestions for outside training opportunities.
- Assists director in conducting on-going staff and program evaluations.
- Supervise auxiliary staff.
- Keep all required government posters posted in an attractive manner and where employees can read them.
Curriculum
- Works with the curriculum coordination.
- Maintains the curriculum master notebooks in the office.
- Maintains the school age summer lesson notebooks.
- Track the school age weekly lesson plans during the school year and holidays.
- Make sure the curriculum is in keeping with the O-Gah-Pah Learning Center/Downstream Learning Center mission statement.
- Stimulates the staff with suggestions of new innovative ideas, resources, and materials.
- Prepares the monthly calendar for all staff.
- Supervises teacher resource books and makes sure that none leave the building without permission.
Customer Relations
- Develops and maintains positive communication with parents.
- Promotes opportunities for parent activities.
- Hands out and explains parent handbook to new enrollees.
- Recognizes parent concerns and addresses them professionally.
- Keeps required items posted on parent bulletin boards up to date with current information. Keeps items posted in an attractive manner.
Marketing
- Works with Director of Childcare to develop marketing and advertising strategies.
