Position Summary

The HVAC Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance of the Club's heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, and related mechanical systems. This position ensures all HVAC equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably while supporting a comfortable environment for members, guests, and associates.

Working collaboratively with the Facilities Manager, Engineering Supervisor, and Facilities team, the HVAC Technician supports the maintenance of Club facilities by performing preventative maintenance, responding to service requests, and assisting with general building maintenance to ensure the highest standards of safety, reliability, and operational excellence.

Essential Responsibilities

HVAC Systems Maintenance & Repair

  • Install, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems throughout the Club.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, and mechanical equipment.
  • Diagnose equipment malfunctions and repair or replace components as necessary.
  • Inspect HVAC systems to ensure optimal performance, energy efficiency, and compliance with manufacturer specifications.
  • Monitor system performance and recommend equipment upgrades or repairs that improve operational reliability.
  • Maintain working knowledge of chillers, air handlers, rooftop units, split systems, refrigeration equipment, and building automation controls.

Preventative Maintenance & Facility Support

  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance in accordance with departmental maintenance programs.
  • Complete work orders accurately and efficiently while maintaining detailed maintenance records.
  • Conduct routine inspections of Club facilities to identify maintenance concerns and opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist with plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general building maintenance as operational needs require.
  • Support emergency maintenance requests and equipment repairs throughout the property.
  • Maintain departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to HVAC maintenance and equipment operation.

Equipment & Inventory Management

  • Safely operate hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, gauges, meters, and diagnostic instruments.
  • Maintain inventory of HVAC parts, filters, refrigerants, tools, and maintenance supplies.
  • Assist with ordering replacement parts and maintaining accurate inventory records.
  • Maintain equipment, tools, and work vehicles in safe operating condition.
  • Report damaged equipment and recommend replacement when appropriate.

Safety & Compliance

  • Perform all work in accordance with OSHA regulations, EPA requirements, manufacturer specifications, and Club safety policies.
  • Maintain EPA Section 608 Certification and applicable HVAC licensing requirements.
  • Follow proper refrigerant handling, recovery, and disposal procedures.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
  • Identify and report safety hazards, equipment failures, and operational concerns promptly.
  • Respond appropriately to emergency maintenance situations and facility outages.

Team Collaboration & Member Support

  • Collaborate with Engineering, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Golf, Racquets, Lifestyle, and other departments to support daily Club operations.
  • Communicate professionally with associates, vendors, and contractors regarding maintenance activities.
  • Minimize disruptions to members and guests while performing maintenance work.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, safety training, and professional development opportunities.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Physical Requirements

This position requires extended periods of standing, walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, and working in indoor and outdoor environments. Associates must be able to safely lift and move up to 100 pounds, operate hand and power tools, climb ladders, and work in mechanical rooms, rooftops, and confined spaces as needed. Visual acuity, manual dexterity, and the ability to respond to emergency maintenance situations are required. QualificationsQualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required; technical school or trade certification in HVAC or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum 2–5 years of commercial HVAC maintenance and repair experience preferred.
  • EPA Section 608 Universal Certification required.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Experience with commercial HVAC systems, refrigeration equipment, chillers, and building automation systems preferred.
  • Experience in private clubs, hospitality, resorts, commercial facilities, or institutional maintenance preferred.
