About The Role

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Estimator – General Construction based in Mexico.

This is an opportunity for an experienced construction estimator to take ownership of estimating and pre-construction activities for U.S.-based <projects.You> will work across the full estimating process, from reviewing drawings and specifications through quantity takeoffs, cost estimates and bid preparation.The role offers significant autonomy within a lean and focused construction team, where proactive problem-solving and reliability are highly <valued.You> will collaborate with contractors, subcontractors and internal stakeholders to keep estimates accurate, organized and on schedule.Your work will directly support competitive bidding, project planning and the efficient delivery of pre-construction activities.The position is well suited to someone who can manage multiple priorities independently while maintaining a strong attention to <detail.You> will also have the opportunity to leverage modern construction software and AI-assisted estimating tools to improve efficiency and accuracy.

Accountabilities

  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs using construction drawings, specifications and project documentation.
  • Prepare accurate budgets, cost estimates and bid proposals for U.S. construction projects.
  • Review plans, specifications and project requirements to identify scope, quantities, exclusions, discrepancies and potential estimating risks.
  • Prepare bid documentation and respond to Requests for Quotations (RFQs) as required.
  • Review subcontractor submittals against project drawings and specifications, identifying inconsistencies or missing information.
  • Coordinate with contractors and subcontractors throughout the pre-construction process to obtain pricing, clarify scope and resolve questions.
  • Support pre-construction communications, documentation, scheduling and project logistics.
  • Manage multiple estimating assignments and pre-construction tasks simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Maintain accurate, organized and easily accessible estimating and project documentation.
  • Use construction estimating software and digital workflows to support estimating, coordination and project administration.
  • Proactively identify missing information, scope gaps, discrepancies and other potential issues before they affect bids or project execution.
  • Take ownership of assigned estimating and pre-construction activities, working proactively without requiring constant supervision.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and improve the efficiency of estimating and pre-construction operations.

Requirements

  • 3–10+ years of construction estimating experience, with strong hands-on responsibility for preparing estimates and quantity takeoffs.
  • Proven experience estimating U.S. construction projects.
  • Strong ability to read, interpret and work from construction drawings, specifications and project documents.
  • Experience preparing detailed quantity takeoffs, budgets, cost estimates and competitive bids.
  • Familiarity with construction estimating software and digital construction workflows.
  • Working knowledge of Bluebeam.
  • Familiarity with Autodesk Build and AI-assisted estimating tools such as Toggle, or the ability to learn new technology quickly.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative and manage multiple projects or project phases simultaneously.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify discrepancies, missing information and potential project issues proactively.
  • A degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related field is preferred, although equivalent hands-on estimating experience will be considered.
  • Previous experience working for or alongside a U.S. general contractor is highly desirable.
  • Experience with public or private education construction projects is an advantage.
  • Experience combining estimating with pre-construction coordination is preferred.
  • Familiarity with RFQs, bid packages, subcontractor coordination and broader pre-construction workflows is a plus.
  • Experience reviewing subcontractor submittals and project documentation is beneficial.
  • Availability to work full-time and remain dedicated to a single client.
  • Willingness to work U.S. Central Time hours.
  • Comfortable with a month-to-month employment structure and two-week notice flexibility.
