Assistant Controller — CLO Products

About The Role

Position Overview

We are seeking a Assistant Controller (level commensurate with experience) to oversee the accounting, financial reporting, and operational control functions for ourCollateralized Loan Obligation (CLO) product suite within a global, systematic, multi-strategy hedge fund. This role sits at the intersection of fund accounting, structured credit operations, and external reporting, and requires close, ongoing collaboration withindependent trustees, fund administrators, and collateral agents. The successful candidate will be a key control point for the accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of CLO-related financial information provided to internal stakeholders and external parties (investors, lenders, auditors, and regulators).

CLO Accounting & Reporting

  • Oversee the full accounting lifecycle for CLO vehicles, including collateral accounting,waterfall mechanics, and compliance test reporting (OC/IC tests, collateral quality tests)
  • Review and approve monthly/quarterly trustee reports, payment date reports, and notevaluation reports for accuracy against internal books and records
  • Coordinate with independent trustees and fund administrators to reconcile collateralpositions, cash activity, and NAV calculations
  • Review distribution waterfalls and payment calculations ahead of each payment date

PnL and Management Reporting

  • Review daily/monthly PnL for CLO strategies, investigating and resolving breaksbetween trading systems, administrator records, and trustee reports
  • Prepare and review management-level financial packages summarizing CLOperformance, fees, and risk/return metrics for internal leadership and investment teams
  • Support attribution analysis distinguishing mark-to-market movements, realizedgains/losses, and interest income/expense

External and Investor Reporting

  • Prepare or review financial statements, investor letters, and capital account statements related to CLO vehicles
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for fund administrators and independent trustees on accounting treatment, reporting timelines, and issue resolution
  • Support external audit processes (annual audits, agreed-upon procedures) including preparation of audit schedules and responses to auditor inquiries

Controls & Process

  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls over CLO financial reporting, includingreconciliations between the collateral manager’s books, trustee reports, andadministrator NAVs
  • Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities across CLO reporting workflows
  • Ensure compliance with governing documents (indentures, collateral managementagreements) from an accounting and reporting perspective
  • Partner with Operations, Legal, and Compliance on new CLO issuances, resets,refinancings, and wind-downs

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA strongly preferred

5–10+ years of relevant experience in fund accounting, structured credit, or CLO administration (asset management, fund administrator, trustee, or public accounting background considered)

Direct hands-on experience with CLO structures — collateral accounting, waterfall mechanics, and trustee/administrator reporting — is required

Strong understanding of loan/credit instruments, GAAP, and relevant regulatory reporting requirements

Experience working directly with trustees, fund administrators, and auditors

Advanced Excel skills; experience with fund accounting or CLO-specific systems (e.g.,Wall Street Office, ClearPar, Geneva, or similar) a plus

High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple deadline-driven reporting cycles simultaneously

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences

Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, global, multi-strategy hedge fund environment

The minimum base salary for this role is $120,000 if located in New York. This expectation is based on available information at the time of posting. This role may be eligible for discretionary bonuses, which could constitute a significant portion of total compensation. This role may also be eligible for benefits, such as health, dental, and other wellness plans, as well as 401(k) contributions. Successful candidates’ compensation and benefits will be determined in consideration of various factors.
