About The Role

Alpine Animal Clinic is seeking an experienced Lead Veterinary Technician!

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled technician who enjoys balancing hands-on patient care with team leadership. In this role, you will help support daily hospital operations while serving as a clinical resource and mentor for our technical team. We value our technicians for the clinical knowledge, judgment, and communication skills they bring across all areas of the hospital, helping to support quality of medicine, patient care, and client experience.

Responsibilities include

Supporting efficient exam room, outpatient, surgical, and dental workflows

Performing anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery

Assisting in surgery and performing dental procedures, including prophylaxis and radiography

Maintaining accurate medical records and communicating treatment plans and discharge instructions with clients

Delegating daily tasks and helping coordinate workflow to support exceptional patient care

Providing training, mentorship, and clinical guidance to Veterinary Technicians and Veterinary Assistants

Monitoring daily operations to uphold safety, efficiency, and medical standards

Building strong relationships with clients and fostering a collaborative, positive team culture

This role is ideal for technicians who are passionate about utilizing their full clinical skillset while developing others, leading by example, and helping drive excellence in both patient care and team performance.

Schedule and compensation

Compensation: $22-25 per hour, for each hour worked

Shift differential offered for certain hours on weekdays and daily rate on weekends + emergency pay

Our hospital is open Monday-Sunday. This role requires full-time hours, with a 4/10 schedule and availability needed Monday-Friday with rotating weekends once per month (including Saturday and Sunday). We require on-call weekend shifts once every 6 weeks.

Minimum qualifications and skill set

  • 2+ years of veterinary technician experience
  • Active and good-standing Licensed Veterinary Technician in the state of Montana preferred
  • Team or shift lead experience preferred

Proficiency in the following skills

Patient assessment, nursing care, and monitoring

Anesthetic induction, monitoring, and recovery

Surgical assistance and aseptic technique

Dental prophylaxis and dental radiography

Venipuncture and intravenous catheter placement

Radiology positioning and safety protocols

Medication administration and accurate drug calculations

Laboratory sample collection and in-house diagnostic testing
