Position: Store Manager

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the overall operations of the central store and site stores.
  • Ensure timely receipt, storage, issue, and dispatch of construction materials.
  • Verify all incoming materials against Purchase Orders (PO), Delivery Challans, and Goods Receipt Notes (GRN).
  • Maintain accurate stock records in ERP/software and physical registers.
  • Monitor stock levels and raise material requisitions to avoid shortages.
  • Ensure proper storage, identification, and preservation of construction materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Conduct periodic physical stock verification and reconcile differences with system records.
  • Maintain minimum, maximum, and reorder stock levels for critical materials.
  • Coordinate with Procurement, Project Managers, Site Engineers, and Accounts for smooth material flow.
  • Ensure timely issue of materials to sites based on approved Material Requisition Slips (MRS).
  • Monitor material consumption and identify abnormal usage or wastage.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly inventory and stock movement reports.
  • Maintain records of returnable materials, scrap, damaged materials, and surplus inventory.
  • Implement FIFO (First In First Out) or FEFO (First Expiry First Out) wherever applicable.
  • Ensure proper documentation for material inward, outward, transfers, and returns.
  • Maintain records of tools, machinery, and assets issued to employees and subcontractors.
  • Ensure proper tagging and tracking of company assets.
  • Coordinate with logistics for timely transportation of materials between stores and project sites.
  • Monitor material handling to prevent damage, theft, and pilferage.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, audit requirements, and statutory regulations.
  • Maintain housekeeping, safety, and security within the store premises.
  • Supervise store assistants, storekeepers, and helpers, ensuring efficient workflow.
  • Train store personnel on inventory procedures and documentation.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing required inventory records.
  • Prepare monthly inventory valuation reports and assist the Accounts Department during stock closing.
  • Identify slow-moving, non-moving, and obsolete inventory and recommend corrective actions.
  • Ensure calibration, maintenance, and proper storage of measuring instruments where applicable.
  • Maintain vendor-wise and project-wise material records for effective tracking.
  • Implement inventory control measures to minimize losses and improve efficiency.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the management related to store and inventory operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree + 3 plus years Exp
  • Certification in Inventory Management or Material Management is an added advantage.

Experience

  • 5–8 years of experience in store and inventory management, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Experience in handling central stores and multiple project sites.
