Sr Speech Language Pathologist - PT - Danbury

Summary

Speech-Language pathologists provide services that identify, prevent and rehabilitate speech, language, cognition, voice, fluency and swallowing disorders. Evaluates and analyzes patients, treatment and instruction to patient/family to maximize functional independence. Clinical responsibilities may include treatment of pediatrics, and/or adults and mature adults. May work in any of these locations: in-patient, out-patient, pediatrics.

Responsibilities

  1. Performs speech/language evaluations on patients with complex diagnoses.
  2. Performs speech/language therapy treatment planning and implementation for complex patients.
  3. Provides patient/family education and training.
  4. Provides peer reviews and participates in performance improvement activities.
  5. Documentation is completed based on department guidelines.
  6. Initiates discharge planning.
  7. Continuing education: attends 20 hours of continuing education per year. Provides 10 hours of in-service education to staff per year.
  8. Provides full time clinical experience to students and community education lectures.
  9. Acts as mentor to lower level staff and new staff.
  10. Participates in orienting, teaching, guiding and evaluating assisting staff.
  11. Assists with annual competency training and verification.
  12. Assists with scheduling patients and achieving appropriate staffing.
  13. Provides coverage in program coordinators absence as requested.
  14. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
  15. Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Minimum Experience: three years
  • Desired: Functional Independent Measurement (FIM) certification and CPR certification.
