About The Role
Your mission
If you have always wanted to translate the skills you acquired during your studies into
real-world impact
, this role is for you. At QTAS, your work will contribute directly to technologies that improve people’s lives
through better medical diagnostics and cancer therapy monitoring.
This is an opportunity to apply your knowledge not just in theory, but in systems that are being built for real use, now.
About us
At QTAS we develop
quantum sensing–based medical technologies
aimed at improving diagnostics and monitoring cancer therapies. We translate cutting-edge research into
practical, deployable systems
that generate medically relevant insights.
Our work is
deeply interdisciplinary, sitting at the intersection of
biology and medicine, physics, engineering, and software. By combining quantum sensors with tailored bioassays and advanced data analysis, we create
end-to-end systems
that transform complex physical measurements into actionable medical information. This close integration across disciplines is what allows our work to have
real clinical relevance, and change the world for the better.
Your profile
Enrolled in a Master’s program in Biotechnology, Bioengineering, Medicine, Physics, Quantum Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biotechnology, Bioengineering, Computer Science, or a related field
Strong interest in applied, hands-on research and system-level thinking
Motivation to work across disciplinary boundaries and learn beyond your core field
Depending on focus area, experience with laboratory work, programming, or data analysis is a plus, but not a must. If we piqued your interest we highly encourage you to apply regardless of your level of experience.
Your Jobs
Depending on your background and interests, your work may include
- Development of bioassays, including markers, sample preparation, blood stabilization, and SOPs
- Development and optimization of quantum sensing setups, including optics and experimental system
- Design and integration of hardware and electronics, such as sensors and control systems
- Software development for instrument control, data acquisition, and analysis
- Application of data analysis and AI-based methods to extract meaningful insights from complex measurements
- Close collaboration with team members across biology, physics, and software to develop integrated solutions
- Your Master’s thesis will be embedded in an ongoing, real product development effort, not a standalone academic exercise.
- What we offer
- A Master’s thesis position in collaboration with TUM, academically supervised and operationally embedded at QTAS
- Employment as a paid working student (up to 8 hours per week) alongside your thesis
- Hands-on experience in a highly interdisciplinary, startup-driven environment
- Close mentorship from experienced scientists and engineers
- Insight into the full development cycle of a medical technology
- Possibility of continued collaboration or employment after your thesis
