About The Role

What you become a part of: As a Senior Account Officer at Shalina Healthcare Ghana, you play a key role ensuring the accuracy, integrity, compliance, and timeliness of the company’s financial records and reporting. The role focuses on financial reporting, ledger scrutiny and reconciliations, internal controls, audit readiness, statutory compliance, and continuous improvement of accounting processes. The incumbent will play a key role in establishing and strengthening financial systems and controls, maintaining discipline in accounting practices, and developing the capabilities of finance team members to ensure high standards of bookkeeping and reporting. Key deliverables: Financial Reporting & Analysis Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports. Perform detailed ledger scrutiny and account analysis to identify anomalies, errors, and opportunities for improvement. Maintain and review schedules for all balance sheet accounts and ensure timely reconciliations. Support preparation of management reports, financial performance analysis, and key accounting schedules. Ensure completeness, accuracy, and integrity of all accounting records. Books of Accounts & Record Maintenance Maintain proper books of accounts in accordance with applicable accounting standards and company policies. Ensure all transactions are accurately recorded, classified, and supported by adequate documentation. Review accounting entries and journal postings for correctness and compliance. Monitor ageing reports and ensure timely resolution of outstanding items. Maintain discipline and consistency in accounting records across all business functions. Internal Audit & Compliance Conduct periodic internal audits and compliance reviews. Identify control gaps, process weaknesses, and non-compliance issues and recommend corrective actions. Track implementation of audit recommendations and ensure timely closure of observations. Maintain audit-ready documentation and records at all times. Support risk assessment initiatives and control testing exercises. Statutory Compliance Ensure compliance with all applicable Ghanaian statutory, tax, and regulatory requirements. Assist in the preparation and filing of VAT, PAYE, Corporate Income Tax, SSNIT, withholding tax, and other statutory returns. Monitor statutory deadlines and ensure timely submissions and payments. Keep abreast of changes in tax laws, accounting regulations, and reporting requirements and advise management accordingly. Ensure all accounting records meet requirements for regulatory inspections and audits. Audit Coordination Assist the Finance Manager in managing external, statutory, tax, and internal audits. Prepare audit schedules, reconciliations, supporting documents, and responses to auditor queries. Coordinate with external auditors to facilitate smooth and timely completion of audit assignments. Ensure audit findings are addressed and corrective actions are implemented. Stakeholder Management Liaise with government agencies, tax authorities, regulatory bodies, banks, and other financial institutions as required. Support banking activities including account management, banking documentation, reconciliations, and financial information requests. Build and maintain professional relationships with external stakeholders. Team Development & Leadership Train and mentor finance and accounting team members on proper bookkeeping, accounting practices, reporting requirements, and internal controls. Promote a culture of accountability, compliance, accuracy, and continuous improvement. Review work performed by junior team members and provide guidance and corrective feedback. Ensure adherence to accounting policies, procedures, and standards across the finance team. Other Responsibilities Support annual budgeting and forecasting processes. Assist in cash flow monitoring and working capital management. Participate in ERP/system implementation, enhancements, and finance transformation initiatives. Ensure proper safeguarding of company assets through strong financial controls. Undertake special projects and assignments as directed by the Finance Manager. Act as a key custodian of financial governance within the organization. Essential qualifications, experience and skills: · Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. · Professional qualification such as ACCA, ICA Ghana, CIMA, CPA, or equivalent is preferred. · 5+ years in a similar role, have prior experience of working in the same industry or any related industry. #LI-Onsite
