A Kaniksu Community Health a Pediatrician is not just responsible for providing excellent, integrated patient care to the young patients in our communities; they are also committed to fostering long term, trusting relationships with the children and their parents. Our Pediatricians achieve this by showing patience, care, and by possessing a thorough knowledge of children’s diseases and epidemiology as well as having established examination procedures for infants and children of all ages. YOU ARE an essential team member charged with leading patient families in managing their young ones care at Kaniksu Community Health. As a

Pediatrician,

a typical day might include

Conducting regular thorough examinations on newborns and young children to check and record their health and normal physical development

Examine sick children to determine their condition and ask intuitive questions to gather information about symptoms

Reach an informed diagnosis based on scientific knowledge and individual medical history

Prescribe medications and give detailed instructions for administration

Prescribe and interpret appropriate lab tests to gain more information for possible infections or abnormalities

Prepare and administer vaccines according to the governmental vaccination plan

Examine and treat injuries and refer the little patients to physicians of other disciplines when necessary (e.g. surgeons, ophthalmologists, orthopedists etc.)

Advise parents on children’s diet, exercise and disease preventive measures

Keep updated records of patients’ illnesses, surgeries or other medical episodes (allergic shocks, injuries etc.)

Keep abreast of advancements in pediatrics and best practices by attending seminars and conferences

We are also looking for the following (i.e - the fine print)

Graduation from an accredited School of Medicine is required

Currently licensed to practice medicine in the State of Idaho is required

Ability to receive clearance through the National Practitioner Database

Working knowledge of the basic principles of health, illness, and wellness including current best Practice in effective delivery of preventive and primary behavioral health care and health education to low-income and special needs populations.

Proven clinical competence and outcome-effective experience providing primary and preventive health services.

Skill in behavioral health services primary care delivery and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with patients and staff.

Experience with rural community health care, public health principles and practices desired.

Strong written and interpersonal communication skills, creative thinker and a proven collaborator

Ability to maintain appropriate clinical privileges required

A high level of personal and professional integrity and quality standards Excellent judgment, flexibility, good humor, high energy level and graciousness FTCA coverage obtainable

Unrestricted license to practice in the State of Idaho

Current CPR (BLS) certification, ACLS preferred

Idaho Board of Medicine and DEA registrations

Ability to be designated a Medicare and Medicaid provider in Idaho Computer literacy and willingness to utilize electronic health records
