About The Role

About the team you are joining The Macro Economist, will report to the Assistant Director, Industry Analysis. The Industry Analysis unit is part of the Sustainability and Economics Division which mission is to strive for air transportation’s financial and environmental sustainability. This is a dynamic Division in an effervescent field, where we rely on our analytical strengths and privileged access to airline data to produce stellar research and analysis and provide thought leadership for our industry. We integrate sustainability in all our thinking and endeavors. The Macro Economist will produce economic research and provide support primarily to the Macro-economic work stream in the Industry Analysis unit, while shouldering additional responsibilities in that unit and contributing to other work streams in the Division. The Macro Economist is expected to deliver presentations as well as practical support to IATA’s internal and external stakeholders, including to regulators. These interactions rely on the quality of our research, programs, and solutions to help influence the policy agenda and provide cost-effective solutions for our airline members. Strong collaboration is expected across the team, the Division, and IATA. What your day would be like - Provide economic research and analysis regarding macro-economic developments globally, regionally, and at country level as they pertain to the air transport sector. - Contribute to the coordination of this work across geographies. Specifically, this involves IATA’s 5 regional offices and 33 core country markets. - Contribute to request management, coordinate research efforts, and work to integrate contributions from the regional colleagues in the publications of the division. - Conduct part of the research independently, with responsibilities for specific outputs and publications. Some work will be conducted across team functions, notably more consequential analyses. - Outputs will take the form of reports and publications, managing stakeholders, participate in and speak at internal and external meetings and conferences as appropriate. Inputs involve the compilation and validation of data, in collaboration with colleagues in our Division and across IATA as appropriate. - We believe in collaborative work: it is our core strength and the key to our success.
