About The Role

Position Purpose The Import & Export Supervisor is responsible for supervising daily international shipping operations, ensuring accurate documentation, and maintaining regulatory compliance for all incoming raw materials and outgoing finished goods. This role oversees the shipping team or coordinators, troubleshoots immediate freight delays, and coordinates directly with customs brokers and carriers to keep the manufacturing supply chain moving smoothly. Key Responsibilities Daily Operational Oversight • Supervise the daily workflow of the import/export documentation team, ensuring all shipments are processed accurately and on schedule. • Coordinate the routing, booking, and tracking of international freight (ocean, air, and road) from origin to final destination. • Act as the primary operational point of contact for freight forwarders, customs brokers, and carriers to resolve delays, customs holds, or shipping discrepancies. Documentation & Compliance Execution • Review and verify all shipping documents—including Commercial Invoices, Packing Lists, Bills of Lading, Air Waybills, and Certificates of Origin—for accuracy and regulatory compliance. • Ensure proper application of HS codes, Incoterms, and customs valuation rules for all entries. • Maintain accurate, audit-ready records of all import and export transactions in compliance with government regulations and company policies. Internal Collaboration & Reporting • Work closely with Warehouse, Production, and Procurement teams to align shipping schedules with production capacity and inventory needs. • Update the company’s ERP system with real-time tracking information and shipment statuses. • Compile data on shipping costs, transit times, and broker performance to assist management with KPIs and quarterly reviews. • All other duties as assigned. Qualifications & Experience • Experience: 3–5 years of hands-on experience in international logistics, customs documentation, or freight forwarding within a manufacturing or distribution setting. 1–2 years of supervisory or team-lead experience is preferred. • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, International Business, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience). • Technical Skills: Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Excel for tracking and data analysis. • Knowledge: Strong understanding of standard Incoterms (2020 rules), customs clearance processes, and basic international trade laws. Key Competencies • Attention to Detail: High precision in verifying legal and financial shipping documents to prevent costly customs penalties or delays. • Leadership & Communication: Ability to guide a small operational team and clearly communicate logistics updates across various internal departments. • Problem-Solving: Quick-thinking capability to resolve immediate operational bottlenecks, missed connections, or port disruptions.
