Test Automation Engineer

About The Role To enable and enhance software quality assurance by designing, implementing and optimising a comprehensive set of automation testing activities and scenarios, ensuring that software meets and exceeds defined quality specifications throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). To independently drive automation practices within a defined system or product area, ensuring effective test coverage, quality outcomes, and continuous improvement through collaboration, innovation, and capability upliftment within the team Knowledge and Experience Minimum Experience: 3-5 years hands-on experience in automation testing Strong proficiency in JavaScript/Node.js Solid experience with Playwright for end-to-end test automation Experience building and maintaining service stubs/mocks with Node.js Proficiency in SQL (esp. PostgreSQL and SQL Server Experience with event-driven architectures and Kafka (consuming/producing test messages, validating event flows) Leading and mentoring less experienced or junior team members Minimum Knowledge: Sound understanding of software development lifecycles and quality assurance principles Proficiency in automation testing frameworks and approaches across the testing lifecycle Working knowledge of modern development practices, including version control and continuous integration/continuous delivery Understanding of system integration, APIs, and data management concepts relevant to testing Familiarity with test management, defect tracking, and reporting practices Knowledge of cloud-based environments and distributed system architectures Ability to analyse, interpret, and validate system behaviour using appropriate testing techniques Capability to support and guide less experienced team members Ideal: Exposure to non-functional testing practices, including performance and security testing Understanding of modern infrastructure and environment management approaches (e.g. cloud and containerisation) Familiarity with agile delivery methodologies and continuous delivery environments Knowledge of industry-specific systems and regulatory considerations Awareness of emerging practices, tools, and trends in quality engineering and test automation Education (Minimum) Grade 12 National Certificate / Vocational Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or Information Technology - Computer Science Education (Ideal or Preferred) Software Testing - Foundation Level through the International Software Testing Qualification Board (ISTQB) Skills Analytical Skills Communications Skills Interpersonal & Relationship management Skills Numerical Reasoning skills Problem solving skills Additional Information Clear criminal and credit record
