About The Role

As a Mechanical Technician , you will play a crucial role in building the prototypes and test stands that form the backbone of our cutting-edge hydrogen production technology. You will use your hands-on skills to fabricate and assemble electrolyzer stacks, construct mechanical structures, and install mechanical piping and tubing. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced, collaborative startup environment, where your contributions will have a direct impact on the development and scaling of breakthrough clean energy technology.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate and assemble electrolyzer stacks, ensuring high standards for consistency, cleanliness, and quality
  • -
  • Build and integrate mechanical and fluid systems into the electrolyzer system and balance of plant
  • -
  • Diagnose and repair any mechanical or fluid issues, ensuring that all systems operate safely and efficiently
  • -
  • Work closely with engineers to understand design requirements and ensure that builds meet technical specifications and safety standards
  • -
  • Accurately record build processes, modifications, nonconformances, and test results to support traceability and improvements to system design and production processes
  • -
  • Other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications

  • -
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • -
  • 2+ years of experience in hardware assembly, test, maintenance, or similar roles
  • -
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted
  • -
  • Able to work on-site in Hawthorne, CA

Preferred Skills & Experience

-

Experience with fabricating tubing and fittings for high-pressure fluid and gas systems, perform basic operations (leak test, proof test), and the ability to work safely in these environments

Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and machines (lathe, mill, laser cutter, welder) to build and assemble complex systems

Ability to safely operate forklifts (5-15k lb) with non-standard loads and use lifting equipment (gantries, slings, shackles, etc…)

Familiarity with reading and interpreting engineering drawings, schematics (P&IDs), work instructions, and technical documents

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot mechanical systems
